Wheel Locks - Click HERE for Original Thread
MG Pilot
Those of you that have these on your Pilots, have you noticed any increased vibration above 70 mph??? It's kinda hard to tell, but I think I have noticed some increase :(

The wheel locks are actually heavier than the OEM lug nuts. I wonder if this contributes to the imbalance???

BTW, I have the Acura ones courtesy of Tim @

I have wheel locks and also have the slight vibration after 70 mph. However, I never thought about that fact that they might be causing this problem. I'd be interested in what other Pilot owners have to say.
WannaPilot
I've ordered the wheel locks, and as soon as I put them on, I'll take a drive and check. I'll let you all know.

I have got Wheel Locks. My Alignment was a little off. At least that is what I thought. Until my dealer told me he had to adjust Some Rod-End or some thing.
Now my Steering which was little tight has loosened-up and drives easy now.
Reason for me posting this is to say I have Wheel Locks and no vibrations for me so far.
puccetti
same here no vibration

You will need to balance the wheels if they are heavier than the OEM lug nuts.

That will not help since the wheel lock will not be on when the wheel is spinning on the balancer...

Consider replacing the lug nuts with Acura lug nuts for balance.

I have the wheel locks and I have not noticed any vibration. I drive over 70 every day on my way to and home from work.
MG Pilot
This raises an interesting point...

What is considered vibration???

The type of vibration I am talking about is not able to be seen, it can only be felt. I'm not even sure if it's vibration or simply the road/vehicle combo when driving at fast speeds. For example, some people would not notice vibration until the steering wheel violently shook in their hands. Some people notice the slightest movement and consider it a vibration...

What do you guys consider vibration???

I wonder is the acura lugs are heavier than the Honda ones??? Though, I doubt it-

MG Pliot,

I believe that the problem may be related to using Acura locks with OEM (Honda) lugs. What about a poll to find if the Pilots with Acura locks are the only ones affected ?
copilot
and I have the Acura Locks.

See if the lug weighs different than the lock with a simple balance scale. By the way, the locks Tim sent me were "Honda". They did not say Acura as did the early ones mentioned.
Tony
I'll have to weigh them. We have a parcel scale at work.

Same here - I have wheel locks and no vibration....can't believe the wheel locks would cause the vibration problem.

I bought my wheel locks from TIM and no vibration pass 70 mph
MG Pilot
The free ones Tim sent me anyway...were the Acura ones. He said they were the same as the Honda ones.

No vibration here. I can't imagine the locks would cause
that: they are too close to the center of rotation to create
enough force, IMO.
Tony
Okay, here's what I got.

This is in ounces.

First, here's the stock lugs.

They weighed in at 1.7 oz each.
Tony
And now the Wheel locks. These are Honda Brand direct from Tim.
They weigh in at 1.9 oz each.
Tony
I even removed the black plastic O ring on the original lugs and exchanged the on the wheel locks. There was no real difference, the scale couldn't tell.

I haven't put the wheel locks on yet, but I will when I have the spare time.

It could be that these black plastic rings are only on the steel LX rims like Tony has.
