| On the way home today, a piece of something flew off the top of a semi and hit our windshield, causing a hairline mark and also one that looks like a bbgun hole. Has anyone had damage like this fixed on their windshield and how much does it cost? Has anyone had their windshield completely replaced? By a glass tech? Honda mechanics at the dealer? Any problems with any of these options? Thanks. |

| 2 weeks ago I was hit by a rock that left a bb type hole. I decided to have it repaired first at a cost of $70.00. I had Safelite Glass (www.safelite.com) do the repair right in the parking garage. I am not real happy with it. It is still very noticable. I was told by the technician that this would greatly improve once the summer gets here and the windshield heats up. I tried putting heat to it with my hair drier but it did not help. The nice thing about Safelite Glass is that if you are not satisfied, you can apply the $70.00 towards the cost of a new windshield. My Pilot is 2006 and I just hate the possibility of having the winshield replaced after a previous bad experience (different glass company) on my Ford Expedition. Good Luck! |

| Most insurance companies cover a repair free w/o deductible, so you should not have to pay the $70.00. I had mine repaired, also by Safelite, with similar results (still noticeable). However, its not worth getting the windshield replaced either. |

I got the same thing but it's on the passenger side. I stopped by the local glass guy and he quoted $50 but also said it will still look the same from the inside. It just helps to keep if from spreading and seals it.
Insurance will pay for it with no dings on my rates.
When we get a dry day in NE, I will stop by and have him fix it. |

| Took a rock in front of the passenger side last Sat on I85 near Durham, NC. Nice little starburst. |

Permatex sells a windshield repair kit for under $15 at most automotive parts stores that does a decent job of repairing your windshield. The package states that it repairs bullseye's, star damage and cracks not exceeding 12 inches in length. I have used this kit on my Jetta with ok results. It comes with a plunger that pulls a vacuum over the damage and then fills it up with an epoxy that cures in the sun. If you are careful you can reuse the same kit several times. I do this until the windshield gets too many cracks or they are in my way of vision. The advantage of this is that the epoxy will slow down the chance of the crack spreading.

Like stated above, most insurance covers windshield repairs if not all of them. Smart insurance companies would rather pay to fill up the crack or chip with resin rather than to fully and eventually buy you a full windshield.
but in case you dont have insurance, then there are people on the phonebook willing to drive to you home to fix windshields for $20.00 |

my 07 was rock pecked on the interstate and by the arrival home had a crack spreading 10" long. honda dealer uses a "sisiter" body repair shop
under the same name so i called and they had a specialist replace the windshield in my driveway. when he finished the molding running up both sides was not straight(more squiggly),i pointed this out and he straightened and taped -said remove tape in a day. day later still not straight so i called their office and brought it in. the person there said the molding fits i believe under and on top of the shield and it was correctly installed -they replaced shield again(yes new) and when it was picked up it was taped again and when tape was removed one side was still not straight.brought back again-they tried get honda to warranty it saying the molding was defective, after 3 days of trying to get honda to look at it before removing shield i told them to put in a shield -i need the vehicle back so they installed a third shield and got it right this time |

| It is the dealer that cracked my windshield and the dealer that replaced it. The outside black trim will probably distort on removal and so a new one should be on hand before starting the job. |
