| I was looking at my fog light assembly in my 2006 EX-L Nav and noticed that the actual bulb is surrounded by a metal ring. Can anyone let me know what the purpose of this is? What are the consequences of removing it? |

| i've noticed that ring too. my guess is that it plays some role in controlling and directing the light output from the bulbs. i wouldn't know how or why i would remove it. |

Fog lights are designed to have a very controlled light pattern with as little light as possible directed above mid point of the lamp.
Light coming off the bulb, rather then the reflector is not directed, so in any "real" fog light, the bulb is shielded so no direct light is projected forward. |
