I had a 2003 Volvo XC90 T6 Turbo. I loved the truck, very sporty and lots of options. But I have to admit, I had a ton of mechanical issues with the Volvo. If it wasn't the ball joints going bad, it was the turbo crapping out or the torsion bars fracturing. Same problems happened repeatedly and the truck only had 36,000 miles. Volvo just kept telling me they were "working out the bugs." No thanks.
So I bought a Honda. Much more reliable, less options, but well worth it. I tried the Highlander, which is basically a stripped down Lexus RX300/RX330, and I preferred the Pilot by a long shot. The Highlander felt smaller and missed some of the grat options that the Pilot had. The HIhglander was also AWD, which is a gas hog, in my opinion. Although I did like the 17" rims on the Higlander (I think the 16 inch on the Pilot are too small). Negative. As stated before Highlander is not RWD and the real-world fuel economy in the Highlander kicks the Pilots butt. As it should since it's smaller, weighs a lot less and has a less-powerfull engine ;) |

We cross shopped the XC90 with the pilot. It's a nice lookng vehicle but hear you on the reliability.
The base engine was appreciably weaker and it had no practical storage space in the front. |
