rear and front wiper questions - Click HERE for Original Thread

hello all. I have 2 questions on the wiper operation of the pilot. I have a 2006. In the rear, there is a black plastic cap that is ovet the wiper shaft which looks like it covers a rubber gasket that is against the rear window. This black plastic cover, moves when the wiper is operating, and I can spin it by hand if I try, although it is snug. It also seems that the gasket cover is further from the gasket at the bottom, but I think this is the contour of the window. I was wondering if this is normal, or something is loose?

second question, this one regarding the front wipers. if the wipers are accidently shut off after the vehicle, and ice up over night, and the pilot is started the next day, the wipers will try to cycle one time. This is the case with all vehicles. If they are too frozen to move, Is there something built in, like a clutch mechenism that protects the wiper system from damage in these cases?

Thanks
