My 2005 Pilot's battery runs down too frequently...I find myself putting a trickle charger on the battery every 6 weeks or so...the battery seems fine, its just as though the battery is not getting charged properly...even after a long trip...I am bringing it in for a checkout before my warranty is up in 2k miles....Anybody else see this problem?

I haven't had this problem with my 05 Pilot but did have on my truck a battery that drained in a few days.

traced this parasitic drain to a defective alternator electronics.

Its one of those things that is really really annoying.

BTW see you are close to me whose your dealer?

What is the symptom?

Do you have ANY electronic added?
Anything that stays plugged into the power outlets?

my syptoms are that for over a year now the battery seems to run low every couple of months..poor starting power is the biggest symptom...I then charge the battery overnight, and I am good for another couple of months..Due to interior lights left on, the battery has died a few times in the 2+ years we have owned it..but the battery seems to hold a charge fine...It just seems that there is more of an electrical draw than the charging system can handle..we don't leave anything plugged into lighter sockets..the only electrical item I added was a trailer hitch harness..about 6 months ago...after this problem started..the hitch connector is taped and hidden inside the rear bumper..

Brought it to the dealer who did a load test on the battery..It failed, so I got a new 100 month battery under my existing warranty (2005 Pilot purchased Sep 2004 with 34k miles on it)...I hope this solves the problem..I have heard others on this list complain about the relatively short life of the OEM battery..

To Pilot05,

I have the same problem with my 2005 pilot (35k).

I had it when I first bought the car. :-(

I switched out the stock battery for a new one from honda and the issue continued. :-<

I also tried another new battery with

Voltage 12 V, Capacity 44 Ah, CCA 720 and the problem was not resolved. :-(

The issue has been commented on many times (on hondapilot.org) and you may want to search for other posts.

I do not see honda resolving this issue any time soon.

It would probably cost them to much. ;-)

Cheers :-D
