Hi, all.
Any feedback will be appreiciated.
I have a 05 Honda pilot, it happens on and off. When I turn on the engine / car, there will be a shreeking noise coming from the hood. It goes away when I start driving the car. Is it something I need to look at via Honda or it is weather related as I have had this on and off.
Thanks!
Have a nice day! |

| Check belt tension, that's a usual source of shrieking noises. |

| Could be belt tension. Could also be water pump bearings. |

Hi, thanks for the response.
Can I check the belt tension or a mechanic will have to do this? |

| I'd have a mechanic familiar with Honda engine's check it out. You can adjust the belt yourself but if you make a mistake you can screw up numerous things in the engine, and could end up wrecking the engine. I really doubt that it is the water pump, the belt is the first thing to check. If it is the water pump I'd still take it to a mechanic ( see above re same problem if you do it yourself and make a mistake ) |
