sagging leather - Click HERE for Original Thread

I ve noticed the leather in the rear seat of my 07 EX-L is sagging more on one side than the other and was wondering if this is normal wear or is it a defect? My 9 year old son sits on this side so weight is not an issue. I'm 6.0' and 213lbs and the front seat where I sit is fine.

I'd consider pointing it out while well inside your warranty period. That way, if it does fail, you'll have some history.

Actually, it seems happening to my 07 Pilot front row seats too.

On the driver's side seat, it is sagging more on the left side. On the passenger's side, it is sagging more on the right hand side.

I will take few pictures and post them up.

We have not been driving the car more than 20 times. The longest trip we had was 100 miles one way to Palm Spring.

I am going to check out the 2nd row seats too.

I just went down to take few pictures of the leather seats.

Well I am planning on leaving the vehicle with the Honda service people on Monday so I will have them look into this issue then. I hope they come up with a solution to my original problem of a ticking or popping noise coming from the front end area. Hey maybe they will fix both:3:

Since I will have an appointment with the dealership on next Saturday, I will have time to look into the leather issue too.

Plchan, how can you wait a whole week? If Honda service was open on Sunday I would have it in there. My attitude is its a new vehicle and really I shouldnt be having these issues so early along so the sooner the issues are resolved the sooner I can get on with enjoying that new vehicle high.:)

skyraider: Please update to use on what your dealer said about checking out the leather seat.

Good point. However, it is because I would bring it back to the dealer where I purchased from. it is about 25 miles one way and gotta work from 8 to 5pm too :(

Should I make an appointment to bring it in, or just bring the car in on first thing Monday morning?

I was thinking to call to the Service on MOnday (they close on Sunday) and arrange an appointment on Tuesday.

I would want to get the car fixed and I can enjoy it. I also found out some issues on the 2nd row right speaker, and the rubber around the moon-roof seems not really even. (I posted them on the "Problem" forum).

I just wonder what is the "ticking / popping noise from the front end area" issue?

I will need to them look into the leather while they need to inspect the speaker and do the 40-point free inspection (btw, are you planning to have them do the 40-point free inspection too?)

Plchan, the popping noise I am hearing occurs when I go over rough road, accelerate from stop, or sometimes turn. Honestly I cant tell if its in the dash or front end. Its not very loud at all. I did a search and found others who have had similar noises and it turned out to be a bad strut. I know one thing though, I dont want them to tear into the dash cause that would without a doubt create other problems down the road. So in a way I am hoping its a faulty strut.;)

BTW, I will keep you informed as far as the leather issue goes.

I had that type of problem on an Accord. The problem was that when they undercoated the car, some of the undercoating got onto the shock.

Edit:
This is interesting:

I might have the service to inspect it as well when I bring my car back tomorrow.

what did your dealer say about the leather issue?
skyraider
They told me that the leather would stretch out as the temperature got hotter, yeah right. And if not then bring it back and they would replace the seat cover.

I just dropped off the car this morning. I talked with the Service Advisor and she said the 2nd row leather is "completely normal". She said even thought they replace it it would still be sagging like that (one way or the other).

I also pointed out the front row seats with the prematurely wear and tear on the leather (see my other pictures posted in this thread). she asked the tech to look into it and "advise".

Sadly, regarding the speaker issue, she could not hear any weird / pop / distorted / vibration from the rear speakers. She said the tech guy would have a Snop Dog's CD to check out the bass. I swear I could hear the weird / vibration / distorted sound from one for the speakers. However, it does not happen to all songs / cds :(

Got some news (sometimes are bad to me)..

My service advisor called me. She said a Honda rep was in the dealership today and she had the honda rep to look over my car.

1) speaker works fine.. no distorted sound or pop sound (I need to check my hearing because I sure hear the cracked / distorted / pop sound) -- bad news

2) They are going to replace the whole moon-roof because of the glass causing the molding is loose. -- good news (just assume they don't screw the other stuff up)

3) leather seats.. the honda rep said it is completely normal and it looks "nice"! -- bad news

4) they will buff and remove the scratches -- good news!

basically, the service advisor has all the reason for NOT replacing the leather seats cover because Honda rep said it is normal.
ncelk
Mine have looked like yours since I got it. They have gotten no worse, so I would reluctantly agree that it is normal.

Looks a lot better than our 03 did, I have to say.

#2 is fixed but they "missed" to fix #4.

They should have fixed the same day I brought the car in. What a bad service. I believe the service advisor should really check out the car before she called me. If she checked and she should notice the scratches are still there.

Speaking as the owner of a 2004 EX-L, those seats look pretty good to me. :) :)
