My 06 pilot was missing the radio code card when we purchased it. I asked the dealer to get it for me but they never did.
I went back last month for service and warranty work ,they told me they could not get it and I would have to disconnnect the battery and push a sequence of buttons on the radio to get the code. I just want the card.
My daughters 05 civic came with one any ideas. I don't really want to disconnect the battery. Anyone else to try?

I am missing my code on a used 1999 Civic I purchased. I called Honda corporate and a dealer and I was told that the radio needs to be taken out of the car to get the serial number. The dealer can then look up the serial number of the radio and cross reference with the VIN number to get the code.
I recently replaced the battery on the Civic and was forced to connect the positive and negative leads to a trickle charger while I changed the battery. Fortunately the radio never lost power and I did not need the code. At some point I am going to need to pull the radio to get the code. |

If it is a new Honda and the radio has not been changed, then Honda should be able to give you the original radio SN and code.
If the dealer screwed up and did not give you the code when you bought the car, it is his fault and insist NICELY that he take care of it at no cost or inconvenience to you. |

NNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Don't do that!! The code is what you have to key in to get the radio working again after the battery is reconnected.
Either you didn't understand them correctly or they're idiots. What do they mean they can't get it? They're just blowing you off. If there were a sequence of buttons that would display the code, every car thief would make it their business to know that sequence. That would defeat the whole idea of having a unique security code for every radio.
Perhaps it is necessary to pull the radio to get the S/N and obtain the code, e.g., in the case of the used Civic. But if the dealer sold you the Pilot new, they owe you the code. I'd go back an not take no for an answer. I have to believe any dealer worth his salt can obtain the code with only a VIN#.

Definitely a job for the dealer to supply you with the card.
You should contact Honda directly for assistance. Dealers get really sensitive when Honda calls to tell them about a customer complaint. |

Some radios have a key sequence to get the SN, then Honda has the code.
Others you have to pull the radio to get the SN off the sticker.
Check to see if they put the SN or Code sticker in the glove compartment. |

This works to extract the S/N on the MDX:
......Hold down the 1 and 6 preset and then press the power. It will display two 4 digit numbers. That is the serial number......
The dealer can then get the code from the S/N without pulling the radio. Not sure if this works for all Hondas and our Pilot is gone for the day so I can't try it till much later. |

That key sequence puts you in "diagnostic mode" on an 07 Pilot EX-L stereo. The service manual pages posted here on the site do not mention anything about getting the SN this way.

As I noted, that sequence works on a 2002 MDX. Since the dealer told the OP that they have to disconnect the battery and enter a sequence, it must be a different sequence. |

According to the user manual for my 05 pilot, you have to disconnect the battery to delete the current code. When you delete the code, and repower the radio, on initialization, the radio will display it's Serial Number on power up. The dealer should then be able to use that serial number to look up the Code that you need.
(I'm in the same boat, because I bought my 05 "nused", and it doesn't look like the previous owner included the Code. So, I either need to contact the previous owner, if I can find them, or go to a dealer to get the code.) |

Thats what the dealer told me disconnect the battery wait a few minutes and punch 1-6 and power up. I just want to get my card instead of messing with that .

I'll try the dealer again before I call Honda.
