| We have an '05 EXL. When should the passenger side airbag light be on. I know that it comes on for several seconds at startup but should it stay on to alert you if the passenger is not belted in. I think a while back we experimented and it did come on with an unbelted passenger but today it didn't. Thanks. |

| It depends on the weight of the passenger --unlike some cars with a manual off switch. You can test it if you put a 10 pound bag in the passenger seat, or have your toddler stand on the seat while the engine is running. You bet the airbag off light would be on. |

| We tried that. My wife was in the passenger seat, the car was in gear, she didn't have her seatbelt on and she lifted herself on and off the seat and it still didn't come on. Do I have a problem? |

No. It is supposed to come on when there is a specific weight range placed onto the seat. Put something that weighs 20lbs on the seat, and it will come on.
My sensor on my new Pilot works much better than my 2001 Accord did. On that car, it would sometimes come on when nothing was on the seat, and it would not come on when there was something on there. The Pilot comes on when I put a full gym bag on, which is what it should do. |

| plus it takes a few seconds for it to decide in needs to deactivate the airbag. Put a bag of cans from the grocery store on it and you'll see it. |

Remember, the light comes on to indicate the airbag is off. If nothing is in the seat, the light will not come on. If there is something/someone who falls under the weight threshold, the light will come on indicating the airbag is off. If you wife sits there, and the light does not come on, she is over the weight threshold, somewhere around 100 pounds. I really can’t remember what it is though, but I think we have talked about it before. Try searching for the answer. |

| Correct me if I am not understanding this. The airbag light will be lit when a child under the weight threshold is in the passenger seat. The light will be off when someone over the threshold is in the seat. Does the seatbelt have any correlation to it? If a child is in the seat belted in, will the airbag still remain off? If an adult is in the seat with no seatbelt will the light be on or off? |

I believe the airbag light on has nothing to do with the seatbelt (at least, It is what the service department told me).
However, per the owner manual, for 07 model, if the weight is less than 65 lbs on the front row passenger seat, the light will come on, so the airbag would be shut off. |

It doesn't. Put a bag of grocerries on the front seat, and the light will come on. |
