aux inputs - Click HERE for Original Thread
The Honeywagon
Hi All, I am a newbie so please bare with me.

I noticed that there is an aux button on my 06 pilot. Does that mean I can simply connect a Y cord from the aux ports and plug it into the ipod's earphone jack?

Thanks.

Yes, if you have the RES with the aux jack on the console. But if you don't, then there is no aux input connection, so you have to add one, either Honda's MusicLink for Ipods or some kind of aftermarket setup.

I installed a PIE X3HON98 in my 2005 Pilot with in-dash 6-CD player (no Navi). It provides three auxiliary inputs and does not disable the use of my CD player. I ordered a great mount from ProClip USA for my Cowon X5 audio player. I did get some ground loop noise after installation and cured it with a ground loop isolator from Radio Shack.

Folks there are variations between Honda models depending on how they are equipped and in MY.

Boy, was I happy to find this thread!

I have a Canadian 2007 Pilot EX-L w/RES. For $12 (again, Canadian) I was able to get a three-foot cable at Radio Shack that goes from the headphone jack of my iPod to the RCA inputs on the rear console. The cable then comes forward from the inputs into the armrest compartment, where I've also plugged in a Monster Cable car charger for the iPod. The sound is perfect, and you simply select "Aux" on the factory head unit to access it. Most importantly, the kids can still watch DVD's on the RES while we listen to the iPod.

Speaking of Monster Cable, they make a similar headphone-to-RCA cable, but it costs $50 at Best Buy! I guess the label that says "For your iPod" is important to some buyers...

I had been scratching my head, thinking that I would have to get somthing installed to play the iPod, but the solution turned out to be very simple and inexpensive.

I just wish there was something as simple for us non-RES folks.

Simple??? Install a RES.

Oh, what's that you say? Don't want to pay that much? Oh, sorry. Thought you wanted it simple. Didn't know cheap was also part of the equation.....

Isn't there also an aux RCA input on the back of the head unit? I mean, yeah, you have to pull it out (which I have not done), but it's the same inexpensive cord...
