My 06 Pilot is silver and is spotless, BUT just below the back window where the bottom of the glass sort of overlaps the edge of the rear door, I see lots of little orange specks that wont wipe away.
I'm pretty sure it's rust. Can this be possible?
Anybody else have this? |

I haven't noticed any rust on my 06, but there are several places where the design of body panels allows for water to not drain away. I think this design must have some money saving reasons and poor functional decision making.
The worst place is below the glass on the far back windows and on the rear hatch door. Notice after you wash your vehicle (I chamois off the water) that water stays trapped in that groove unless you wipe it NUMEROUS times. If you are in a rainy climate, there will water pooled there quite a bit if you vehicle is outside in the elements. |

| I have notice the same rusting. But it is not just under the rear window area, I actually see specs of rust-like spots all over the car. I have a white 06-pilot (and I had a white 04-pilot) I just notced them on 4/15/07 when I was washing the car. They don't wash off, but if I scrap it, then it comes off. ?? What are they and why do they pop up? |

| It's sounds like you guys are having the same problem as my Father had with his Nissan Titan. He had small rust specs all over his truck about a year and a half after purchase. He took it to a local bodyman before the dealer, and he said thats its metal flakes from the rail lines, and that the vehicle should have been wiped down with a solution (don't know what kind) as part of the PDI. It may sound kind of hokey, but he pointed out as proof that it wasn't acutally the body panels rusting that even the plastic trim had rust flakes on it. My father took the truck back to the dealer and they wiped the specs off (with what I don't know) |

| That rust or what ever it was, has bean cleaned off by my Honda dealer. They said that it shows up better on white or light colored cars. They couldn't tell me exactly what it was, but that they cleaned my car for. They said that they would use the clay bar(?). Now doesn't that strip off the wax coat? It feels nicely waxed now. Anyways, it was covered under warranty. I took it in on Fri and picked it up on Monday. Not too bad. Looks spanken new, no bug stains on the front (yeah!!) |

If they clayed the car, you should apply a coat of sealant and/or wax. |

| metal specs from the rail lines do stay on the car. Anyone buying a new car should buy a clay bar and do it as soon as possible to get this stuff off the paint. I say that, but I've had mine for 3 months and haven't gotten around to doing it yet - need to get on it!! |
