Does anyone know any tricks for getting a stuck gas door/cover open? I have an 04 Pilot and when I pull the lever by the driver's seat to open the door to access the gas cap, it doesn't open. Is there another way to get it open?

two possible reasons.

1. Most likely, the sprint that pops out the door is broken, so when you release it from the pull switch on the door sill, it does not "boing" out. Solution: a two person job. one person pulls up the lever, the other opens the door with a finger nail, or piece of tape. Replace spring.

2. Linkage from the lever to the door is broken. If you pull up on the lever, and there is no tension, or the 2nd person can't open the gas door, then this is your problem. See a dealer.

good luck

it is interrmittent? my 07 pilot has the same problem. sometimes i can get it to open by flipping the lever repeatedly. but for me, the sure way to get it to open is to go and push the door in (not hard, but definitely compressing the rubber stops) and then pull the lever.

If it's still under warranty, I'd just bring it to the dealer. The mechanism is very simple. The solution suggested by bluefin should work.
