hello all --
i have a odd problem with the XM radio. the 3-month trial expired, and most of the XM presets somehow automatically switched to channel 1.
i renewed the subscription at $77 (thanks to hondapilot.org), and the CSR said to leave the radio on XM channel 1 for 20 minutes.
that night, when i was driving home, i tried to use the XM radio. i got a few channels, like 11, 22, 23, 24, 115, and a bunch more on the upper end, but i'm missing the rest.
i did leave the radio on xm channel 1 for the drive home (about an hour), and nothing has changed.
when i use the steering wheel button to change channels, the XM says (UPDATING), but it hasn't stopped updating for a couple days already.
i've powered the radio on and off several times to see if that helps. i think the XM must have gotten a partial update, but i dont know how to make it re-update.
has anyone had this problem before? i am thinking that i will need to remove the battery for a while and reconnect, but im hoping theres a fix simpler than that.
thanks,

You can either call XM, report the problem, and ask them to refresh your radio, or if you have established an online XM account, go online and refresh it yourself.

The xm unit has to be on when they send the refresh signal. |

Yes, and it is normally rather quick. Start the car, put the XM on Ch 1, do the refresh on the Web and take a drive.
It should be working in under 10 min.

| Interesting how the radio needs to be on for the refresh to happen, but XM doesn't tell you. I discoved this the hard way after trying about 10 times...ugh... |

The radio does not need to be on when the refresh is sent. I refreshed today, via the XM web site. The web site says that the radio needs to be powered on within 3 hours of the refresh being sent. I turned my radio on after about 2 1/2 hours and the refresh worked without a hitch. Took about 10 minutes to start receiving all channels. |
