Hello, everyone,
My wife and I like the Pilot and are planning to get one. We read many comments on the Odyssey and Pilot. Both are very good.
Although Pilot has three rows and 8 capacity, we think anyone sits in the third row will be much less comfortable.
We know that for sedans, if one baby (with car seat) sits in the middle of rear seat, it is uncomfortable for any adults sit in the rear. How about Pilot? It seems that the Pilot is about 7 inches wider than most of sedans. If the child's car seat is placed in middle of the second row, can other two adults ( average side, :) sit in the second row well? Thanks for any inputs. |

we used to do that all the time, but dont any more, its tight, depending on the size of the adults obviously. We own an Ody as well and its much easier for hauling little kids around and their stuff, the Pilot rides better and has more capability for camping, bad weather etc.
the 3rd row is a huge hit for the little ones when they get to be say 5 though.. and you can split the back into a sit for one or a seat for 2, Honda says you can get 3 back there, but unless they are munchkins... not a chance. Most people also find it a hassle to get in and out of the back seat even though the seats slide forward..
To answer your Q though, 2 adults can sit with a car seat in the middle, of the 2nd row but not for any kind of longer road trip. try it at the dealer before you buy one and you will see what I mean. |

The ability to seat two plus a car seat in the second row was one reason we bought the Pilot.
We looked at some smaller cars like the Highlander and the Outback, but could not imagine asking an adult to sit in back with our toddler seat. The Pilot accomodates this setup easily. Not even tight. I can do it, and I'm 6'4", 225.
We just drove six hours each way to see the grandparents, taking turns sitting in back. Not bad at all. We did have to remove the seat's side-hanging cup/snack holder to fit five in the first two rows, but it was fine once that was done.

We have both.
If you plan on using the third seat on a regular basis, the Odyssey is the way to go.
Better gas mileage to boot.
But if you only use the third seat once in a while, you can make do with the Pilot over the van.
But if overall space and utility is high on the list, the Odyssey is the winner hands down. |

| Being able to get two adults beside the middle of 2nd row carseat was high on my priority list as well, and was one of the reasons we bought the pilot. We do it all the time and am comfortable doing it. One odd thing though is that the passenger side has more room than driver side because the middle seat is a little offset as it is only 30% of the whole seat (1/2 of the 60 side of the 60/40 split seat - hope that makes sense) |
