And NO; the answer is not using another browser.
Does anyone know a way to group favorites into "folders" like pre-IE7?
I like being about to open a set of pages, with some groups, but also used folders to group together like pages (Airlines for example).
With IE7 I have to open the group and then click on the link.
With IE6 it just showed up with the little > and you could easily open the selected link without having to re-close the list. |

Click on the add to favorites button and choose organize favorites, there should be an option in there to create folders and then you should be able to group the favorites. |

Let me clarify.
I KNOW HOW TO USE FAVORITES!
Old way:
Hit favorites, scroll down with my mouse to "AIRLINES", folder unfolds automatically and I select "UNITED".
Next time I go to favorites, "AIRLINES" is not open.
New way:
Hit favorites, scroll down with my mouse to "AIRLINES", Click on it to open folder, select "UNITED".
Next time I go to favorites, "AIRLINES" is still open (even though I am not looking for "HOTELS")
How do I do something like the old way????? |

I know that.
I was hoping that a work around existed. |

In the favorites center you don't have to manually click on the folder to get it to close. It will close automatically when make your next selection. You can also turn the "menu bar" toolbar on and select from favorites that way instead of using the favorites center. Favorites using the "menu bar" behave the same way as IE6 - they tab out automatically.
edit - as e2e notes below, the "Close Unused Folders in History and Favorites" box must be checked in the advanced internet options for the folders to close automatically as I noted. It is not selected by default. |

Try this:
Go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Browsing and check the box "Close Unused Folders in History and Favorites." |

When I use the Favorites Center it does not seem to close automatically EVER.
Thanks for the work around using the favorites menu item.
That was exactly what I was looking for. |

As e2e notes above, the "Close Unused Folders in History and Favorites" box must be checked in the advanced internet options for the folders to close automatically. It is not selected by default and a browser restart is necessary when it is changed. |

I must have misread it.
You must be using the Menu per jl_ss's suggestion. |
