I noticed my rear bumper has chipped paint, where they are near to the plastics on the rear bumper area.
What is the best way to repair it? I plan to check with my dealer to see how much it would cost. However, would it be cheaper to find someone to repaint it?
I have no idea how and when it happened thou. It seems the chipped paint is caused by a deep cut on the first coating. |

There is very little paintwork that can be done for less than $300 bucks. You might get some luck looking in your yellow pages and finding a touch-up specialist. Depending on the type of damage you are dealing with, there are many ways to touch up chips so that they blend in fairly well. Unless you get an airbrush involved then you'll always know there was work done, but at least it won't be a black spot on a white bumper or something like that.
Something I have used with good results is Langka. I believe Mother's has a consumer version, but I haven't seen it on the shelf for a few years. Langka is still pretty easy to find online though. This is a very good walkthrough on how to use the product. Basically you just blob the paint in the chip and wait for it to dry. Then you apply a bit of the langka onto a rag and wrap it around the supplied plastic 'blade'. Then you shave the blob right off. I don't know what Langka is made of, but it does a terrific job of smoothing out the paint touch up and making some chips simply disappear. I've used it with great success on my Accord and my Integra. The Pilot hasn't picked up any chips to try it out on, but I did use it on a scrap on the door and it worked great.
Honda does a great job of supplying very good matching touch up paint, so you can probably just go there for the bottle. Another source that is better at getting the color right than Duplicolor is www.paintscratch.com. There you can get the paint in spray cans even if you wanted to. Just give them the paint code and they send you whatever you need. I haven't used them personally, but I've heard from people who have and they say the service and paint is great. |

Thanks for the information.
I just looked at the chipped paint area again. It looks like more like it cracked and the paint peel off. especially it is in the area where near to the platic bumper protector rather than on the corner of the bumper.
I had them to buff one of the chipped paint area. I wonder if they did sand too much on the other area, and now the paint becomes cracking up under the hot sunlight. :(
I am going to bring my car back to the dealer to complain about the paint cracking. I am sure I did not scratch it by all means. |

| Hmmm.... that doesn't sound right. It sounds like something that would happen when the bumper has been repainted. Can you post pictures of the damage? I would probably know what was happening once I saw it. There isn't much in the way of paint damage that I haven't seen in my job. |
