Hi, I am just wondering if the installation of air bags will improve the overall ride of the Honda Pilot? I am contemplating putting new shocks and suspension parts on my pilot a little later down the road and just wondering if anyone had any insight on this topic.
I have a nearly new 2006 honda pilot with about 25000 k's on it and the actual ride over bumps, seams in roads, etc. is terrible. I have had numerous different Hondas from the civic, accord and prelude and I have discovered that they do not put the same quality of workmanship into their suspension components as they do in their actual powertrain!

really sad with all the technology out there, I have been in 15000 dollar vehicles that ride smoother over stubborn roads.

Kind of makes you think how it ever one Car and Drive 5 best trucks in 2006!

How difficult, and what is the approx expense of installing the airbags

thanks

A month ago, I installed an airbag on a 2005 to control ride height and increase spring rate, the result is a more stiff ride and better feel with heavier loads (which is what I was looking to achieve).

The bumps, however, will still be noticeable if not more pronounced. It is great on the highway and on paved roads but bouncy on rugged streets. I think it's probably more a function of the pilot's weight than anything else. I drove a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Ford Explorer and the pilot rides much better than both of them.
