OK, so here goes.
My son has finally broken me down, IF (that is a big "IF") he saves up the money, I gave him permission to buy an XBox 360.
So now I have to learn about these damn things.
Seems like there is;
The Core with no drive
The Basic with a 20 GB drive
The Halo which as a Basic with ugly green covers
The Elite with a 120 GB drive
and
The Arcade with no drive
It seems the first three are the same with different accessories and drive size. Right?
It seems the Arcade is different and can not play old XBox games even if you add the drive. Right?
So, if you are buying the older (non-Arcade) line, are there different revisions/versions? Are refurbs as good as new (less the warranty and such)?
Can you add any standard PC hardware?
Can you put a larger hard drive in the 20 GB case or does it have to be an XBox drive? |

Personally not a big fan of refurbished. But I would defiantly get one with a hard drive. If you want to play old XBox games you must have the hard drive since there are files on it to convert the xbox game play to the 360's game play. As far as I know you can not get a new hard drive for it, (Unless you buy the 120 gig for the approx price of 180), and if you were able to I don't know how you would get these files to play xbox games on it. I know my bro plays a lot of his 360 and he got his when they first got out and he is running out of hard drive space on the 20 gig and is looking at getting the 120.
So I would suggest just getting the elite. Save money by not having to upgrade the hard drive and the black goes so much better with everything than the white does. |

Only got a second... but...
I don't know if you made your decision yet, but we bought a 360 today down here in Houston for $350. Try Game Crazy if you have them where you live. They appear to have the best deal this weekend.
What we got....
Xbox360 bundle with a hard drive ( size unknown yet, still in the box ), Forza2 game included ($60 value ), Marvel comic game included ( $30 value ), a $20 gift card at Game Crazy, and 12 free movie/game rentals from Hollywood Video ($85 value).
So... I'm feeling pretty good about the purchase. Places like Game Stop, Wal Mart, Best Buy, etc. pretty much had the same bundle for $350, but only Game Crazy "threw in" approximately $100 more worth of 'stuff'.
The PS3 still kicks a** though.... |
