| My 04 Pilot EXL has been having hesitation problems lately, mostly a delay in accelleration. The local dealer recommended an Induction-ION service for about $300. Does this service work to fix the hesitation problem, or is this an overpriced dealer maintenance upsell? Thanks. |

| Never heard of such a service before. With as many computers that the latest generation of cars have on them the dealer should be able to pin point the issue. OBD-I cars can be a bit more of an issue. |

| In layman's terms it's called "dealer bending the Pilot owner over and asking for Vasoline" service. Do a search on this forum for the EGR valve, I'll bet you a penny that will solve your problem. |

| Thanks. I will research the EGR valve. When the dealer told me the exhaust system had too much carbon, I was suspicious. |

While I would NEVER take my vehicle to a dealer for a 300.00 hose job, there is some merit to heavy carbon contamination on the intake and exhaust side (obviously including contaminated injectors). I have always solved this problem with chemicals drawn through the intake through the brake booster vacuum line. I have yet to do this on the pilot. |

I've used SeaFoam on my Tacoma a couple of times and that made it run a bit smoother and got a bit better gas mileage. Did the same thing to my dad's truck and it smoothed out the idle. Not sure how many miles the OP has on his Pilot, but SeaFoam-ing it wouldn't hurt too much I don't think.

| I would talk to the service manager and ask if it is standard practice to suggest such service scams. |

+1 for sea foam, great stuff, has worked miracles on my friend's vehicles. |

The website just refers to diesle engines and small engines like lawn mowers with carburators. I am not sure I would try this product on a fuel injected car.
What about just having the fuel injection serviced...clean the throttle body and injectors. |

On that part of the site it doesn't mention vehicles, but it is definitely for cars and trucks. You can read it on the can and here is some more info:
