I've found a set of brand new Acura TL rims that I'm going to pick up on Friday. The seller has offered to include the Acura TPMS with the rims. Will they do me any good? Are the Acura TL TPMS system and the Honda Pilot TPMS system compatible?
Ideally I'd like to just be able to yank off the OEM set, bolt on the Acura TL rims with new tires and be off.
Will this be possible or is the TPMS going to be a problem? |

| dont know about the tpms, should be able to search this site. This has been done before, you will have to change tires, the tl low profile tires are no good for your pilot.... |

Got that part. For tires, I'm deciding between 255/60/17 Michelin Cross Terrains and General Altimax HP.
I'm guessing that the Acura TL TPMS system isn't compatible with my Honda Pilot, but if the guy is willing to give them to me with the rims, I might as well take them and explore the possibility. |

I bought TPMS sensors on EBay. They were advertised as Acura TPMS sensors and sold by an Acura dealer. The part number was the same as the Pilot TPMS. I put them on MDX rims and I have had no problem since. I am using Element Steelies with Snows this winter with the original Honda TPMS with no problem whatsoever. Actually I had a slow leak with the MDX rims and TPMS warned me fine.
Cheers

So I bought the rims!!! They had like 10 miles on them. Form Dealer to home to tire shop.
Here are the rim specs...
Enkei Rims Honda Motor Co. Ltd Sep 7808 OFF 45 17X8JJ
E.A.I. FEB 23-06 22:14
Bushings Inserted Feb 23-06
Each rim has the TPMS still attached. Here are the specs on the TPMS:
FCC G043-21T
1C: 1470A-2T
PBT 30 GF
TRW AUTOMOTIVE
05862 315MHZ
B81381AI
That's what I know.... Here are my questions!
Can I just put new tires on these rims with the Acura TPMS and be good to go? Will I have to remove the TPMS that are on my Pilot OEM rims and use those?
Is there some way to test these new TPMS? Temporarily mount a rim without a tire and see if a code comes up?
On a supplier website the replacement Honda Pilot TPMS is $38.39 and the part number is: 06453-S3V-A04. An Acura TL TPMS is $38.39 and part number 06421-S3V-A04
Ideas anyone? Someone must know this stuff..... Please help. |

So does this mean you think the Acura TL TPMS will work fine with the Honda Pilot? That seems to be the general consensus so far.
Wonder why the Honda part numbers are different. |

| So Ej - did the TL TPMS sensors work? I'm curious because I would like to get some TL wheels and do the same thing. I'm guessing it should be fine. |

The 2006 rims with Acura TPMS are bagged nicely in my garage.
I'm wobblying on installing them. One, I have to decide on good tires. Two, will the Acura TPMS work? Three, If they don't then I'm forced to pay to have TPMS from OEM rims swapped over which seems a real waste. Four, do I trust the load rating of these Acura TL rims long-term with the towing I do? Five, am I willing to give up gas mileage for larger tires.
Anyone want to buy Acura TL rims with TPMS? $500. They are flawless. |
