Super Bowl XLII - Us Against the World - Click HERE for Original Thread

Don't get me wrong. As a Giants fan, I'm not delusional about our chances. But no matter what happens, the season is already a resounding success. Our QB is finally starting to play the way we always expected; We beat Dallas in the biggest game both teams have ever played (it just can't get much sweeter than that); at this point, we have nothing to lose; and we'll have (at least) five weeks of unqualified football bliss.

I know that hardly anybody wants the Giants to win, or thinks they can. Everybody wants to see history made. If the Pats beat the Giants, everyone will simply say it was inexorable and the way it should be for one of the best teams ever.

But ... if the Giants win ... whoaboy ... What will be the ramifications? How do you assess the Pats' season? What will people say?

"2007 Giants - The worst team ever to win a Super Bowl."

I'll be just fine with that.

GO BIG BLUE!!

I certainly wish you and the Giants my best. After all they are coached by Jacksonville's former coach Tom Coughlin. But I hope they lose! Go Pats!

I kinda hope Shula and his guys get another round of champagne courtesy of the G-men.

I have nothing against the Giants.. but that is the only way Shula and his guys will shut up!!

I have mixed feelings about it from that perspective. Let your accomplishments stand (or fall) on their own and be gracious about it. Celebrating a loss by the '85 Bears or the '05 Colts, that you had nothing to do with is taking the low road. (IMO)

Hoping for a Giant's win. I see no reason that they can't win. Yes, the Giants have had a great season, what a turn around from way the season started.

As a Colts fan, I am definitely rooting for the Giants becuase...

1.) I don't like the Patriots.

2.) Belichick is a jerk! He has been acting like a baby all season by blowing off many of the opposing head coaches after the game when they try to congratulate him on the win.

3.) I do want some team soon to have a perfect season, just so the '72 Dolphins will shut up, I just want it to be ANYONE but the Pats.

4.) Eli needs a Superbowl ring too! :D

I guess for anyone who is a Pats fan, it is ok. You should have heard the boos in the RCA Dome when he snubbed Tony Dungy! Wow!

Maybe if Belichick weren't such an a-hole he wouldn't need to walk off the field with such a large entourage of people surrounding him. :4:

Its seems normal for stadium security and Police to be on the field.

krygny how about a poll for the Superbowl? Can you add one?

?

I wasn't saying that all coaches don't have security around them..of course they do. But it seems like Belichick always has a lot more security around him than many other coaches do.

Ok.......I'll admit the real truth. First let me say I'm not a gambler, but............... I have a very good friend who is a Pats fan. Back in Sept he and I combined to make a wager on who would win the Super Bowl in a pool among some of our friends. It was an auction format. We split $300 to "own" the Pats.....some spent a lot more on teams that didn't make it out of the playoffs. So that's why I'm a Pat's fan this year..........ain't personal, it's just business!!!!

I'll admit that from a sports perspective, my 2 great loves are the Red Sox, and NASCAR (have been a fan since back in the early 80's, when most of the nation said "huh?"). Next come the Celtics, with whom I grew up with in the early 70's while in HS and then in the mid 80's when we were first having kids. It's exciting to have them playing so well this year. Hockey for me is most interesting in the college ranks - having gone to UNH and watched a couple of trips to the nationals in the late 70's.

From a football perspective, I'll admit that I'm more of a bandwagon fan than anything else. I watched the Steelers, the 49'ers and the Cowboys back in their hey-day - and passively watched the Patriots, even when they were in the "Berry the Bears" superbowl back in the first few weeks of 1986. Having them be a dominant force over the past several years has been intersting, but nothing I'm caught up with to the extent I am with the Sox and Dale Jr in Nascar (I was a rabid Dale Sr fan from his first days till he passed). Do I want the Pats to win? Absolutely - and their win over the Chargers showed just how well they can adjust to a changing scenario of what works, and what doesn't. But will I be jumping off of a building if they lose? Nope - disappointed, but not distraught. They've already 1-upped the Dolphins with most consecutive wins in a season, and while there will be no debate should they win their 19th, they've already made the old geezers from 72 sit back and take stock..... :D

I don't think there's any way to add one to this thread. Be my guest if you want to start a new thread with a poll. But what's the question? "Who do you want to win?" or "Who do you think will win?"

Now Brady has been sighted in a walking cast, and the Pats have "no comment". Ploy or BIG Problem?

Ploy. The Pats have played around with the injury report for years. How many times has Brady been in the injury report in the past to come out on the following Sunday looking 100%?

I'll bet Tiki Barber feels like an idiot right about now. :2:

Not yet... I'm sure he's secretly hoping that the Giants do poorly, particularly Manning so he can mouth off again.

Don't pick on my buddy Tiki.................he's doing just fine and was smart to walk away when he did. The human body can take just so much pounding and he was taking care of his long term future.

I don't think his comment had anything to do with the fact that Tiki retired after last season.

He's probably referring to his criticism of Manning and Coughlin...

I'm sure Tiki will probably somehow try to take credit for their success... maybe saying that his criticism is what motivated Manning to improve.

I thought you guys would get a kick out of this...

Oh well........I just lost $1300. But I did win my money back plus a little. So much for the open bar at my birthday party..............

Or, as my 5-year-old says, "Giants, Giants, Giants Rule! Woo-hoo!"
rlapid
i couldn't believe it myself. but they played well, so they definitely deserved it. i was surprised to see how many times tom brady got sacked/knocked on his butt!
krygny
Absolutely EPIC!! I can't imagine it ever getting any better than this. We've won (and lost) Super Bowls and maybe we'll win (or lose) some more but how could it get any better?
robrecht
Eli Manning twice broke free of a sure sack to complete a long pass to David Tyree, who caught the ball with his head!
croccan
...for a great birthday gift (I am 37 today)! I was a nervous wreck for the entire game and I couldn't believe that they actually pulled it out. Manning's breaking away from that sack attempt and Tyree's head-catch were amazing. I couldn't stand to hear from all of the Pats fans for the next I-don't-know-how-many-years brag about their 19-0 season with the cherry topper being that they beat a NY team to finish their undefeated season. Great Game!
OB3
Love it !!!
