AND LOVE HER!!!

So i know i'll be flamed for buying the 'weird looking' truck. But we went with all intentions of loving a double cab tacoma, and were severely underwhelmed by it. We reluctantly drove the Ridgey, knowing we liked it from a previous drive but just didn't like the looks.
Boy, when you drive this thing you completely forget it's odd looks and fall in love! It's a perfect fit for us, and i'm getting used to her, especially in Black. Yes, we'll be washing her all the time, but i do this anyway.

We pulled the trigger on a Black '08 RTL, using Costco as we did with our Pilot. My motto for her is
She's TRUCK ENOUGH for us! And dang, she's even more CAR than my pilot with bun warmers, xm radio and a sunny roof.
here come pics in the next post.

My 4 year pld daughter loves Star Wars, thinks we should call it Darth Vader...:D

Lord Vader ;)

Nice! What's the first thing you'll put in the "trunk?"

Mother in law?
74PILOTMOM
No way! I love my Mother in Law~
My kids are going in first!

Actually, there's some photo of a kid taking a bubble bath back there in my Car and Driver article "Love and the Ugly Truckling" My daughter saw this today and asked "When are we going to put bubbles in, Dad?". Now THAT is manly. Billy bob in his monster truck would be laughing for sure.

I agree with you 100% Pilotmom, once you get past the looks, it's all good. But that means.............no more Civic??? Say it isn't so.........
robrecht
Cool truck, 74PilotMom! Congrats.

Very manly. My neighbor is a local and international hunter and he loves his Ridgeline. Come to think of it, there are now 4 out of 5 neighbors in a row on our street who have Pilots or Ridgelines. We started a trend. There was also an MDX a couple doors down but they got divorced.
waynerd
Darth Vader...LOVE IT!

So you fit all the kidlings in there, huh? Is the youngest out of a carseat yet?

And, just for grins, how many miles WERE on the Civic?
74PILOTMOM
We miss the Civic! We loved it, and put every mile on that thing!
BUT! We sold her to a Honda loving kid for $3,000! (He offered and didn't dicker) She was a '94 vx hatchback VIRGIN; had 206K, a cracked windshield and bad paint on a spot on the drivers door, and STILL got that much for her. Boys ALWAYS eyeballed her! I even got yelled at at a gas station "NICE CARRRRR" thought they were joking, but no!
Gotta love a Honda resale! And funnier, 15 years ago, we only paid $11,500.
So we took our little envelope of cash and made a date with our favorite salesperson, PJ, at the dealership.
It was actually a fun day, very nice to have a good relationship with the Honda staff.
Costco knocked $2500 off msrp, so we were happy. I know people get super deals all over, but I'm happy with our 'decent' deal.

The kids fit great back there, and two are in boosters. I love the space in the Ridgeline. My littlest said "i feel SMALL in your truck dad" (llike she's really big outside the truck, weighing in at 36lbs)

Oddly, people are so far saying all kinds of nice things, and admitting that they actually have grown to like the looks. That has so far been a big surprise.

Jeez Robrecht, i live in the ghetto! My street is lined with old domestic piles. We must move to your neighborhood. I'll be out on your cool swingset if you need anything.

Cool. Nice looking truck. :4:

I think I would have gotten one too if it would fit in my garage. :(

Congrats on your new truck!

206K, impressive! Gotta love a Honda.

Congrats!!!! You will love the RidgeLine! We sure liked ours (while we had it - but that's another story). :)

i missed this...link me? Very interested, I thought I remember you really liking it.
-and oh yes, 206K and still drove like new! Just a little more valve noise.

Pilotdad is off to work in his new truck, which is a 'donut offense' hope he remembered to pick some up. No doubt he'll catch a bunch of hell from all the guys there for not getting a 'REAL' truck.

Well, when the other guys blow the rear end or a tranny out of their Real trucks (I assume we are talking domestics), your husband can just smile. I have a neighbour that has replaced both those things at 100K miles on his GMC Sierra and he still says "Its been a good truck"...whatever :-)

My Dad's current Chevy Silverado developed a tranny problem as he left the dealer lot the day he took delivery.

I love you guys.

We're all on the same page.
It's not Honda snobbery, it's Honda QUALITY.
Ignorance is bliss i suppose.
A friend of our loved his big Chevy (with 70K on it) until the Differential broke somehow. I have ZERO faith in the general. But boy that Acadia is stunning looking vehicle. Still wouldn't gamble.

Congrats on the sweet new ride 74PM! :D

Black looks awesome! It's worth the extra washing! :D

Don't let the "Real Truck" comments get you down.

Congrats on the new ride!

Regardless of looks, the Ridgeline is a very well engineered vehicle for what it is designed for, a truck for the car guy/gal. I personally like the the truck and I'm considering getting one in the near future.

BTW, did you move?

That looks like a brand new garage waiting to accommodate that brand new truck.

Nope! Same little house. New house will be the next purchase. Hopefully something with property so Dad can get a dog. I can see the head poking through the sliding window on the way up hunting.

If you get one, you will LOVE it! I prefer driving it to the pilot, seems more athletic and tight. Keep us posted!

I have been thinking about replacing the 1995 Mitsubishi Mighty Max Pickup. I am between the Honda Element with the all plastic interior for general abuse or the Ridgeline. Keep us posted on your impressions of the Ridgeline in daily use. I like the all black look and the name!
74PILOTMOM
I certainly will, rockman19762001.
Have you driven one yet?
I had read all the articles where it won against other pickups. Once you drive it, especially after you drive another truck, you'll see why she wins!
We are absolutely not regretting her for a second. The RTX is pretty cool too, and less $$$ plus the wheels are more of a carbon color, pretty burley. But we wanted more goodies.

Nothing special to our decision to sell it - just reached the point where we wanted more of a "travel" vehicle so we traded for a new Camry.

:)
