Thanks to you both for the compliments. Yes, they do NOT make them like they used to. Even Porsche.

16"x7 and 16x9. To be honest though, this car should have came from the factory with 11" wide tires in the rear, and 9" up front. There is room without any modifications whatsoever, so maybe they anticipated people doing just that. The 245s just light up too fast, even at speed.

The downside is trying to find a good tire without taking a second mortgage to fit an older, classic sized wheel like a 16x9.

Just talking out my butt here...... but I have fit 245/35/18 on my Nissan 240SX's wheels which were 18 X 7.5" with no problems.

You should be able to get 265 or wider on that 9" rear wheel too.

Of course, you'll need to get a second job/mortgage to be able to pay for them!! :2: And yes, altough I haven't gone to the tire sites, I'm sure it is hard to find wide, 16" tires, with the proper sidewall height. Not everyone wants a 30-40 series tire on their 16" wheels.

You are right. My next purchase will be 265s in the rear. And again you are right, only a few tires out there with the proper sidewall for a 265/16. ;)
