broke the valve stem - Click HERE for Original Thread

I know there are quite a few posts but I would appreciate any help. I broke my valve stem while filling it up with air. Is this a dealer only repair? How much will it cost? I have a 2005 EXL and it has the air pressure monitoring. Thanks.

Majestic Honda sells the TPMS valve assembly for $8.25 plus shipping. Item 16 in this illustration.

The whole sensor assembly is less than $40.

Get the stem from the dealer. I bet the labor to install the new stem would be more than the stem, since you have to pull the tire, replace the stem, then re-mount, balance and install the tire.

Is this a do it your self if you can get the tire off? Suppose I took it to my favorite tire dealer rather than the dealership, could the tire dealer put it on? Thanks.

Sorry, how do I know if I just need the valve stem assembly instead of the whole sensor assembly?

You can just buy the valve stem assy at the dealer and have any tire shop install it. It's made to be replaced in case you switch wheels, etc (held on to the sensor with a screw).

Was it the valve stem that broke or the core (shrader valve)?

I have bent the ends of a few cores on my Pilot. The core is simple to replace. Screw the old one out with a core removal tool and screw the new one in.
