| I would imagine that car determines speed by multiplying "number of wheel's turnovers per hour" by "length of wheel's surface". You install bigger wheels, car doesn't know about that. "length of wheel's surface" is increased, car displays you 60 miles per hour, while you are actually doing 70. |

| You need to maintain the same OD to minimize odometer inaccuracy when going to larger rims - usually through a lower profile tire. Here's a link to a tire size calculator: Link. |
