TPMS Bypass? - Click HERE for Original Thread
jimmygtp13
I have an '07 EX-L and I was wondering if there is a way to bypass the TPMS. The reason why I am asking is if I get a set of summer rims and tires, I would like to bypass TPMS so I would not have to swap out the sensors between rims twice a year. Any ideas? (resistor?)

Why not just get another set of sensors?

Sensors are pretty expensive and I was just looking for a way to bypass them.

if cost is an issue, why not get an all season tire?

Not trying to knock you it sounds as if you are goingt o purchase new tires and rims. We are just looking at about $30 per wheel as not being that much of an added expense to keep the tpms feature functioning.

I wouldn't mind only spending $30 per wheel. I was looking around and I thought they were a lot more. Would this price be for a complete sensor? I think it is just the air valve assembly, correct?

I don't think there is an easy way to 'bypass' the sensors but the only annoying part of not having them installed would be the 'tire indicators' illuminated on the dash.

Thanks, Mike! I was hoping a put a resistor in some harness to trick the system into thinking they were installed.

I feel your pain! It seems to me that having to look at a whole series of warning lights just to fit a set of performance summer tires is a royal PITA. So I did a little research that may or may not apply to you.

I have an earlier year wiring diagram, and it's not possible to pull a circuit breaker or two, and disable the light and TPMS. This wiring diagram shows that the system is controlled by 2 circuit breakers, which control not only the power to the TPMS and gauge assembly warning lights, but also multiple other systems. There is no TPMS dedicated circuit breaker.

The dashboard lights are controlled by a series of connectors located on the back of the gauge assembly itself. They are very hard to reach. On mine, you would have to cut or disable one power lead to the gauge assembly, and two other TPMS receiver unit power leads (+B and IG1) plus the unit ground to completely disable the system warning lights. Even then, you would probably set an overall DTC warning light, indicating a TPMS failure.

Unfortunately, I'll bet your '07 system is even more complex.

If I were in your shoes, I might give Tim a call at HONDACURAWORLD (hyperlink above), and see what he would charge for a set of wheel sensors for your summer 'horse shoes'. A word of warning, though: I think I remember an earlier posting saying that the aftermarket replacement wheel, this particular person bought, would accept the wheel pressure sensors only after a bit of machining.

I would drive me crazy to see those warning lights on all the time. The guys at the factory don't make it easy, do they?

Good luck.

You might try unplugging Fuse 10 a 7.5A fuse in the aux fuse box under the hood. My ETM manual shows that fuse only powering the TPMS.

Thanks Glenn, I will give it a try!:)

Pulling the fuse did not work, it still caused the TPMS light to go on.

Sensors should only be $30-$35 for the whole unit. I got one from MajesticHonda for $35 when I was setting up my full spare last summer. It's the whole unit, sensor and valve (They are a all-in-one unit), and TireKing installed it when they mounted the spare tire for me, no problem.
