Today I returned our leased 04 EX. Great vehicle but maybe to help others decided to share this. Right after leasing the Pilot in 04 I thought it had excessive road noise(Bridgestone Duellers)....did my research and decided to bite the bullet and buy 4 Kelly Springfield Safari's from independent tire dealer. Very disappointed in the little improvement in noise level. By the time had 20K miles on them...terrible noise like tires had flat spots. At least that lasted only 6 months...and previous 36 months ok, not great.
I had stored the original Bridgestone tires during that time in the basement. Since we were approaching the end of the lease and the tires worn, decided to have Honda Dealer remount and balance Bridgestones(no alignment done).
Previous to this I had Honda rebalance the Kelly tires 4 times with no luck.
After the Bridgestone's were put back on and I left the dealership I could not believe how quiet the Pilot became. 80% reduction in noise over when Honda was new with Bridgestones and with Kelly's.
New vehicle...road noise wise...so maybe I can save the members here some $.
Looks like it takes precise balancing to quiet the ride.
Pilot was turned in today and replaced with an 08 Highlander. So far so good with that in all respects but as they say "time will tell". |

| Enjoy your Highlander. I'm enjoying mine, but the discussion boards for it are next to worthless compared to this board for the Pilot. :p |
