Aux for Pilot 05 - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi All,

I bought roof mounting dvd player -LCD 9 inch
and there is two way to get the Audio out

1- connect to Aux input of car audio system

2- through FM modulator , where need to program fm channel like 87.5
but the probelm is that the audio through Fm is not good and not having the dvd audio feature

any idea how to have AUX in the pilot 05 audio system as connection through aux will preserve the dolby system quality and much more better quality than FM

I heard about somthing call AUX interface , where u will have in the player of the pilot 3 options 1-cd 2-cd changer 3 -Aux

Appreciate yoru advise

Do a search for PIE X3 and I think you will find your answer.

I'm in a different but similar situation. I have an 05 Pilot with OEM CD Changer and need to wire in my XM player through an aux input that doesn't exist. I've pulled the radio to see that I have the 98 style 14-pin connector, which is being used by the CD Changer. Everything I've seen to add an AUX to this setup disables the CD Changer. The PIE X3 requires an external changer or other device that I don't have. I've looked through this forum (which I love, BTW), but I still don't have a clear picture of what I need to add the necessary AUX input without disabling the CD Changer. Any help as to which products I need would be greatly appreciated.

The CD changer in the 05 pilot is external, so the X3 will work. Basically the X3 just leaves the CD changer running and switches in the audio from another souce, but the stock HU still thinks CD is on because it is. Basically a bump in the line and only switches the autio, thats why the CD changer has to be in.

I am planning on ripping out the CD changer, installing the HON98-AUX (which emulates the CD Changer), and installing a Kenwood P-NAV512 (512 HU with Garmin add on). The unit will not be wired into the speakers just the Aux out into the Aux In adapter. Basically just using it a media gateway and NAV system. I don't listen to terestrial radio, and with this HU I can just burn a DVD with a bunch of MP3 and hold way more than the changer did. Also going to wire in the pilots DVD into the Aux In in case I want to watch what the kids are watching. So I will almost always be using the CD changer on the stock HU and piping in whatever is selected on the Kenwood.
