Just performed my first oil change, transmission fluid change, air & cabin air filter change. It was pretty easy. The hardest thing was the cleanup or the thing I dreaded most was the cleanup. :2:
Drained 4 qts of transmission fluid. The old transmission fluid smelled funky and was discolored. It looked like it had never been changed. Put in 4 qts of new Honda transmission fluid. I also put in 5 qts of M1 5W-20 into the crankcase.
After I was finished, it gave me such satisfaction on a job well done and really easier than I thought it would be. :29:

Cool! Good for you.
Synthetic oil is the bomb! And.... Honda tranny fluid does smell funky.
Wait until you change the VTM4 fluid!! It smells like total horsesh*t!
I have a pretty good sense of smell so I tend to notice these things.
Lastly, the tranny fluid should be brownish-red in color after use. Altough the new stuff going in is pretty, clean red.... it mixes with the old stuff still in the torque converter and gets discolored almost immediately.
Job well done!!! Now go crack open a beer or other beverage of your choice to celebrate the $$ you saved by doing it yourself. |
