Finding a Switched "Hot" wire - Click HERE for Original Thread
Fasby
I own a 2003 Pilot and need some advice on how to find a switched "hot" wire to splice into to hard wire an addon accesorry. I have tried to search the existing threads for advice and/or a wiring diagram for this year but have not been able to locate yet.

Does anyone know of a easy "hot" wire I could use under the dash or have a copy of a wiring diagram?

Thanks
Itchy
I used the power outlet to wire my radar detector.

There is i white thik wire that come dowwn the steering column, just get a voltmeter and you will know wich one it is when you turn the key to a ACC position it should have current only when the key is in the position and when the engine on ofcourse.:D

There are 2 types of switched power wires. Accessory and Ignition. Which one you need depends on the accessory you are trying to add. Accessory is is on in the run and accessory postion but off when in the crank (starter) position. Ignition wires are hot in the run and crank postions and off when the key is in the accessory postion. You can even go straight to the fuse box with a meter to find an open fuse or use a fuse tap to access power.

I've always used an Acc lead to trigger my relay for aux power, but after reading this post, I'm wondering if I would be better served using an Ign lead so that stuff like my DVD players don't restart when I crank.

Better yet, I could use another relay in parallel and provide power during Acc, Run, and Crank positions! So where's the best place to grab an Ign lead?

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I ended up using the White/with Red stripe wire going to the front accessory plug and using a ground located nearby. This one seemed to be one of the easiest to get to for me instead of crawling under the dash.

Thanks.
