ERG Valve Maint - Thanks to the forum - Click HERE for Original Thread

Just wanted to say thanks to the people who post and respond. My '03 pilot, at 90000 miles had the check engine and VTM light issue covered by many posts. My dealer was kind enough to problem solve it for $100, and quote another $500 to repair. That sounded high, with some research here, I got a new EGR delivered for $120 and it took me 15 minutes to replace. Not a bad hourly rate they get at my local dealer! Information is revealing my dealer for what he is - an upsell artist who just eliminated any option of future spend at their dealership (after 4 vehicles and 10 years of maintenance).

Thanks again

A little more info. After the install, I had to clean out the ports. Many have also reported this on the ERG valvel threads...but did not elaborate on how. After removing the plastic cover, there is an aluminum manifold cover below it. The cover is held on by 8-10 bolts and two nuts. Remove the cover, there are 6 port holes that need to be cleaned (I used a small round file while holding a shop vac hose in place to suck out any particles I loosened). Also, work on the under side of the cover. It routes air to the port holes, and also must be cleared to allow passage. After completing the EGR valve replacement, and completing these steps, my VTM4 light stopped coming on, and all hesitation was eliminated. Hope my situation helps in yours.
