The original honda harness connector bolts neatly into a plate next to the trailer hitch. I haven't bought the wire harness adapter (to 7 pin). Can't find the answer in any posts.
- What does the 7 pin adapter sit on? Does it curve back under the pilot bumper to an extra bracket? Does anyone have a pic of a nice clean wire converter install?
- Where do the leads from the battery and brake controller connect? Unused slots on back of the round 7 pin? I went to an RV parts store where no one had any idea. RVStuff USA (online) didn't either (at least the person who took the call).
- Also, can anyone suggest where to buy the 7 pin adapter? etrailer has awful reviews. Thanks for any help. |

Hi again. Thanks for the help. I gave a printout of the DIY (along with Honda instructions) to the installer, but I'm not sure if he read it.
My wife's friend is a mechanic at Toyota who installed the running boards and roof rack cleanly. Thinking he would give a good deal, she asked that I use him for the trailer hitch, coolers and prodigy install.
He says that the full install took him a day and a half. He charged $470. We provided all parts.
I noticed that the prodigy power wire appears to run under the frame/floorboards, probably up the front of the firewall and through the hole he made for the prodigy battery connect wire. Do you think this is acceptable? The wire is not shielded in a plastic conduit the way the pilot harness wires are. There is just a red (what looks to be 12g) wire fastened to the underside at various points. They are snugged to the underside of the car floorboards with nothing dangling, but couldn't a rock strike or something to the wire cut break power?

| So is the wire for the brakes from the 7pin connector to the controller run on the exterior also? It should be fine as long as its fastened securely at short intervals. He would have run it this way to save some time and avoid tearing apart interior panels. |

It looks pretty well secured. Your stamp of approval is good enough for me.
Does the price sound reasonable? Pointless question I suppose being its after the fact. |

Assuming a day and a half is 12 working hours, I suppose its not bad. I'm guessing he spent about 4 hours on the coolers and 8 on the brake controller install. Seems a little long for someone in the trade. My controller install took me 10-12 hours but that was working in the evenings after work and running the wires through the interior. Like you said, not much you can do now, just enjoy the Pilot.
And oh ya, 470/12 = $39 per hour which is a really good rate! |
