Bought a new set of Bridgestone Alenz's, love the tires. Wife is glad I got rid of the Integrities as I kept squeezing a few more miles out of them. With summer thunderstorms coming on, she wanted some good tires on my vehicle. (I made sure everybody else had good tires on their vehicles).
BUT the bottom line cost!!! :eek: So I thought I would run a poll to see what you thought it cost me. (Hey I am through teaching for the summer (and maybe forever but that's another story) and I have some time on my hands.
To help out, here are some pertinent details.
- 4 Bridgestone Alenza's Std size, blkwall. $131 ea.
- Lifetime alignment (pays for itself on the third alignment)
- North Carolina Tire Fee (???:rolleyes: )
- Lifetime Balance (parts ??) (with the 70 mph vibration problem figured I ought to get that)
- Lifetime whell balance (labor)
- Road Hazzard Warranty (Repair or Replace)
- Tire Disposal Fee (???:rolleyes: )
- Tire Installation - NO CHARGE !!(About time)
- TPMS Valve Service (Couldn't avoid)
- TPMS Valve Service Kit (Couldn't avoid)
-TOMS Valve Service Kit Labor (same comment) :rolleyes:
Didn't have to pay the North Carolina Pick you nose and scratch your a$$ fee. :p
I will come back in a few days and update. Start guessing.
PS - No they didn't "see me coming". I got $20 off the lifetime alignment. The Firestone dealer said with oil going up, tire prices would follow suit. $131 is the lowest non-sale price Alenza's have had. |

| $voted 751-800 without the $100 rebate, still waiting for it in the mail:) |

| Ooops, forgot about that. There was a $100 rebate (stupid cash card that has to be used in 6 months). That figure is not in the poll so vote as if there was no rebate. |

| I've guessed the amount I would have paid at Firestone before the discount I got. |

Don't know what your Bridgestones cost but guess over $800.
That's what I had to pay at Sears because two of my old GY Integritiies blew out Saturday after running over part of a metal sign left in the road by Montgomery County, Md. construction crews on Montrose Road.
(I made it home with the tire pressure sensor coming on and when I got in my driveway and heard the slow psssssssst from both left tires I knew it was time to get new tires).
The GYs had 67k miles on them anyway, but it would have been nice to be able to shop around.
The Michelin CTs I ended up buying at Sears (towing my Pilot there) were expensive, but I really like them. They're quiet, seem to hande rock-solid on off-ramps, and look fine.
Same list of add-ons as you cite, i.e. tire disposal fee, county tire fee, blah-blah. but they are unavoidable. At least my TPMS were ok, and I got shiny new chrome valve caps for free!
Missed all the Michelin rebates and sales, though, and couldn't get to Costco where they might have been a bit cheaper. |

OK, here is the answer. The reason I did this thread is to show the cost of the tires compred to the overall cost. As a percentage of the overall cost, the difference in a cheaper set of tires (Firestone Destination LEs) is small.
Bridgestone Alenzas (4) @ $132 each = $523.96 Edited to correct amt. Invoice has strange layout.
Lifetime Alignment $149.99 - $20 Discount = $129.99
North Carolina Tire Fee :3: $2.62 ea = $10.48
Lifetime new tire wheel bal parts $2.99 ea = $11.96
Lifetime new tire wheel bal Labor $10.00 ea = $40.00 Edited to read $10 instead of $1 - thanks Rocky.
Protect Tire Repair and Replacement Plan $18.34 ea :eek: = $73.36
Tire Disposal Fee $2 ea = $8.00
Tire Installation No Charge (About time!)
TPMS Valve Service Kit $3.99 each (not an option) = $15.96
TPMS Valve Service Kit Labor $3 ea = $12
Parts = $625.24
Labor = $200.47
Shop/Supply = $ 10.92
Subtotal = $836.63
Tax = $ 43.47
TOTAL = $880.10
One person got it correct, Two were a littel too high and the rest were too low. Curious who got it correct. Oh well, back to picking sweet potatoes back at the poor farm. :p |

I think I found the problem--seems like they sold you 10 sets of tires just in case any of them ever went out of balance. :7: |

Not much lately, just a stay at home dad, I guess.
Still rolling with the original integrities.......(didn't want to steal the thread, haha).

I finally talked DH into letting me get a new set of Alenzas thanks to this thread.
I absolutely LOVE them! We just drove them from NC to Orlando this past week and the ride was smooth and quiet.
I got them at our local Firestone dealership here in Fayetteville,NC.
Total for mine were $851 |

| I got mine for $660 installed OTD with lifetime rotate, bal,road hazard and 60k milage warranty. Local Firestone dealer matched Tirerack LESS 10% because I became a new credit card customer. |

Holy sticker shock, I just got a quote for Fortera Triple Treads for my 04 Pilot and the out the door price from a local tire chain was in the neighborhood of $750 plus tax. Jeez, even just the tires shipped to my house would cost about $650 from tirerack.com.
Edit: I called around and got a local Sullivan Tire to match the lowest price I found. Out the door total on the Triple Treads was $684 plus tax. They also did a free alignment check and my Pilot was still within spec at 48k miles. |

| Does anybody know anything about Summitt tires for a 2005 Honda Pilot. I have been shopping for tires NW FL and a few dealers offered these tires. |

Never heard of them before.
Rebrand of another manufacturer according to their website. Most likely not a top tier brand.
They can't be much less than an established brand-even Firestone. |

Two quotes: $183 and $204 per tire before tax, mounting, road hazard, TPMS or EPA fees.
Lowest tire price with all the above fees added, a total of $296.64 per if mounted on my rim!
Better expand your $$$ chart. |

Summit brand tires are presently sourced from either Cooper or Cheng Shin (Maxxis).
If you want Cooper tires, get the new Discoverer CTS. Pep Boys often runs a "buy 3 get 1 free" sale on Coopers, so check their price. You can then use that quote to cross shop other Cooper dealers in case you don't want PB to touch your vehicle. |
