HandsFreeLink Setup w/ iPhone and Blackberry Pearl - Click HERE for Original Thread

My wife and I have been looking into getting a Pilot for a while now and tonight we finally made our purchase -- a nice silver touring 4wd model w/ RES, so of course I decided to join this forum to see what there is to be aware of.

Anyway, not half a day into owning the car and I already have burning questions. My first question has to do with the HandsFreeLink (bluetooth) Setup.

I'm using a 1G Apple iPhone and my wife has a Blackberry Pearl. I spent a good half hour trying to get the system to recognize voice commands that the guide told me to spew out: "System", "Phone Setup", etc. None of them seemed to take me to the actual phone setup screen and I can't seem to find any manual way to get there.

Each time I say "phone setup" (like it says in the guide), whether directly into the microphone or not, it takes me directly to "setup" and it says "What would you like to set up?" and after cussing at the system, I say "THE PHONE!"

Needless to say, that doesn't work so here I am. Am I completely missing something? Is anyone else having this issue? What do you recommend?

Thanks,
Scott

Isn't there a way to get to the bluetooth setup menu without using voice commands? And, I hate to sound obvious but have you read the owners manual for this? Yea, you probably did but I have to ask anyway :).

This TSB, "Factory-Installed HFL (HandsFreeLink) General troubleshooting information" may have some tips to help you out. It's not specifically for your '09 Pilot but may have some useful information anyway.

Good luck!
Larry.
waahuu
I paired up my iPhone and it worked fine. The instructions/commands are in the owners manual. Also on this website http://automobiles.honda.com/handsfreelink/

I got it to work with our Blackberry Pearl and Razor...

Need to say 'Phone setup' then 'Phone Pairing" the full manual has all the info...

Works great in the end and links up to the navigation system for calling...

I was able to import the contact list by creating the same password as my phone.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII'm dumb.

You're gonna laugh.

I was on the phone with one of the sales people from the dealership, just trying to figure out how to make this thing work.

I happened to hit the actual HandsFreeLink button (not the Talk button) while I was talking and it asked me to repeat myself. That's when it clicked -- "wow, do I feel stupid."

Don't get me wrong -- I did read the directions but I didn't really read the directions. Long story short, the guide is right word for word. If anyone else is as dumb as me, just hit the lever that's closer to you on the car. (This is the Touring I'm talking about, of course).

Thanks for your help, guys.

Scott
