Wind noise after installing Crossbars - Click HERE for Original Thread
OB3
First off, yes, i did try and search the forums for the answer :)

I installed my crossbars yesterday and noticed that whenever i drove over 35-40 miles per hour I got the howling wind noise coming from them. I beleive i installed them correctly, one was marked 'FRONT' that i installed in the front. Is this typical ? Is there something that i can do to limit the noise ??

Any assistance is appreciated , thanks all

Each bar has a front and a back.
I forget how you tell, but it is in the instructions.
(and in a few threads from back in 2002/2003

The leading edge of each bar is blunter than the trailing edge.

Howling noise is gone... Yay !!
Thanks All for the info... it was a simple fix.

Next stop ---------- Rooftop Cargo Carriers.

Vacationing with 2 little ones quickly fills up the cargo area of the Pilot I learned this past week.

Well? You gonna tell us what it was?

I had them on backwards ..... blunt (fatter) side needed to be facing the front of the vehicle. The difference is slight, but its there.

Honda should mark them accordingly for dolts like me :)

If you take the rubber weather stripping out of the center of them (i.e. to put on a ski rack) they will whistle too.

I actually had to purchase additional weather stripping and cut it around the ski rack to stop that.
