Costco carries both and has $60 cash back on both till this sunday. Price difference seems to be pretty significant approx $300.
Out of the door price for Michelin Cross Terrains ($762) and BFG Long Trail ($467). Take additional $60 off before this Sunday.
As summmer tires, anyone has experience with both Michelin Cross Terrains and BFG Long Trail?
How are they in terms of ride comfort, road noise, handling etc ?
Costco says Michelin are the best....is it worth the extra $300:) |

| The price difference may not be $300. Looks like in BFG's there are 1 or 2 different types avaialble. $460 one is mainly for trucks...there is another one made for SUV's and minivans which will add another $50 or more |

I have always preferred Michelins, but it may not be a rational decision.
How many of us really get to try multiple types of tires on the same vehicle.
At best most go from one brand of worn out tires to another brand of brand new tires and say "They are much better". |

I never tried the BF Goodrich Long Trails, though I was considering them also when I looked at tires and they didn't seem bad. I ended up getting Michelin Cross Terrains, largely from what people on this board and others said, (and because I had two flats from running over something and had to get new tires quick). After about 2 weeks, am very happy with them, they seem a lot beter than my GY Integrities on highways, dirt and suburban streets. I tried a few on-ramps at speed (relative) and they were stable, and the noise is non-existent. They're quiet.
Keep researching, there are other sites with tire reviews, like 1010 tires, but I think the Michelins are worth it. (They were around $800 at Sears, with road hazard warranty, etc.)

| The BFGoodrich Long Trail T/A Tour available at Costco is a brand new tire different from the Radial Long Trail T/A that was rated at the bottom of the CR test. Unlike the Michelin CrossTerrain or LTX M/S, it is constructed with a spiral wrap (cap ply) [item #1 in the picture, below] which should be considered essential in a hot climate like that of Arizona. Note that the LTX M/S made for the Touring version of the 2009 Pilot does have a cap ply. |

I wonder if the Michelin CT are also more stiff so you will get a stable and firmer ride?
I have the Bridgestone that came with the car, there not really good tires but aren't as bad as I though it would be though. |

I went from the OEM Integrity's to the Michelin CT's, and the ride improved noticeably. I wouldn't say a firmer ride, but better traction on wet and slippery roads for sure.
I don't know if the Bridgestone to CT step-up would be as dramatic.
I would like to point out that I replaced the CT's for Fortera's at 28k miles, due to 2 flats and premature (IMO) wear. So don't count on getting 50k out of them; or if you do, sign up for the road hazard and any other warranty you can get your hands on. |

My CTs have are coming up on 60K miles with normal wear (and a good bit of tread left) and no flats. |

Yikes, only 28K on the CT's?! That's terrible, were they wore out or did you replace them early?
I had one nail in a CT with 5K miles on it. The nail went right in the sidewall so I got the tire replaced under the road hazzard warranty. I think it was around $20 or so for the new tire.
Not sure how my wife managed to get a finish nail in the sidewall, very odd:o |

Do you have any uneven wear?
Nope; just premature wearing down of the tread. They were still serviceable, but once I had 2 flats repaired (with plugs) and those 2 tires had to stay on the rear of the car, I was also concerned about safety. I loved them for the first 25k, but just started to notice a decline in performance that bothered me with a wife and kids in the car every day. |

21 years today as a matter of fact, yikes, where did that time go?
I just kept my mouth shut, put the spare on, brought the tire in for replacement, picked it up and put it on.
I've figured this marriage stuff out, it's pretty simple. Just shut up and do as you're told (actually she doesn't even have to speak, she just needs to look at me in that certain way, you know, "The look").:2: :2: :2: :) :D |

| i have about 5000 miles on the tour version of the t/a from costco. and they are a world of difference from the stock goodyears. i have driven in every summer condition so far from scorching heat to typhoon type down pours at highway speeds and so far they have been great. very little noise and a better handling and overall just a better ride. |
