2004 Pilot, 60K miles
My Pilot is blowing almost no air through the front vents, even when the fan is on high speed. You can hear that the fan is running, but it's like the valves controlling the air flow are not working. Air only comes out in a trickle. At the same time, the AC compressor does not appear to be kicking on when I press the button. The rear fan is working fine.
Another thread, http://www.hondapilot.org/forums/sh...d/t-21305.html, suggests the Front Blower Power Transistor needs to be replaced. But since the AC compressor is not kicking in, I am wondering if this is the same problem. Does this transistor also control whether or not the AC compressor runs?
I have not checked any fuses yet.
Just in time for 95° weather!
Thank you in advance. |

| If the fan does not run, the compressor is automatically prevented from engaging. |

| The fan IS running. You can hear it from low speed up to high. There is just almost zero air coming out of the vents. |

Then it is not the transistor.
The controller can run limited diagnostics. |

"The controller can run limited diagnostics."
Which controller are you referring to? Do you mean the control panel on the dashboard display?
thanks |

Yes,
I think in the thread that addressed the bad transistor had the instructions.
If I get a chance I will check my service manual.

| Could it be the air is coming out on the floor instead of the dash or maybe the windshield? Maybe something is messed up and is sending it to the wrong outlet? |

maybe an extremely clogged cabin filter?
Or
stuck vent (in the wrong position)? |

There is no difference in air flow between any of the front vents - windshield, floor, center - they're all flowing almost zero air. Again, the fan is running, and responds to increased speed input from the control panel - but almost no air is coming out of the vents.

I doubt it's a clogged filter, which I imagine would fail gradually. This was like a light switch - on one trip we had air from the vents and AC. On a second trip an hour later, no air from the vents, no AC.
I suspect something electical is (a) preventing the internal vent doors from opening, and (b) preventing the AC from engaging.

OK, this problem is solved. It was in fact a failed Front Blower Power Transistor. Fixed at the dealership.
$ 80 to diagnose + $125.89 to replace. The part itself cost $85.89
Thank you to all who pondered this.
