Aux input on 05 EXL - Click HERE for Original Thread
stubble
Hi all.... I've been searching around and I've seen a few different discussions, but it's hard to determine what applies to my vehicle and what doesn't, so bear with me.

I want to add an aux input on my 2005 EXL (no nav). It's got the factory single-CD head unit and the 6-CD changer down below.

I just want an extra input for my MP3 player, and don't want to lose the changer.

What do I need?

(I happen to have a Soundgate SNHOND3, aka AUXHOND3 from another car, will that work?)

Thanks!

Not sure if you can add anything to the factory radio.

You can try crutchfield.com and ask those folks.

I've decided to get a new radio since my factory radio is pretty bad on sound quality.

stubble,

I newly own an '05 EX w/ no nav - w/ 6-disc changer. I'm looking into some options for my iPod as well.

The PIE X3 may be a viable option. I do not own one, but another poster does & I'm trying to get some info there. Check it out:

I installed the X3 in my 05 Pilot a few weeks ago to use with my XM Tao. Works great. Only issue I had was that I could hear the CD music very, very faintly (it keeps the CD changer running the whole time). Quick fix was to make a CD filled with blank audio tracks and just set it to repeat. Quick fix and not more background music.

so has anybody done anymore to get an AUX input working on the pilots?

Can't you just take the CD's out or does it require that a CD be present in the changer?

It requires that a CD be present in the changer. The X3 just splices into the audio feed coming from the CD changer to the head unit.

Not sure why you'd still be hearing the sounds from the CD changer. I never had that with the X3 I installed in my 05.

Incidentally, I'm going to be selling my X3 if anyone is interested :2:
