Has anyone outfitted their 09 Pilot with a Thule rack system?
I noticed that Thule added the 09 to their configurator but there are no compatible products listed yet. Assuming that the accessory/optional crossbars are not installed, was just curious to know if 08 or earlier rack systems that mounted to the factory issue rails worked or if you had to buy a new fit kit to attach your rack system to the 09. |

I am currently looking into a roof box (probably Thule, given the Yakima pricing I saw online last night  ) with my factory crossbars on my 2009 pilot. anyone have any experience with this yet? Also, does anyone know if the crossbars for 2009 are the same as for earlier model Pilots?
thanks for any direction you can provide, this will be my first venture into rooftop boxes so I don't know what I don't know ... |

We bought a SportRack brand one off of Amazon for a great price. I've never had a Thule so I can't compare, but the factory box actually had a Thule label on it so I wonder if it's the same company. We are using it this week for a long trip. Installed very easy on our 09 factory cross bars (can even get out of our garage with it on - big plus). The GPS and NAV still work too (we were concerned b/c the fin on top is semi covered by it). Can't speak about earlier crossbars. |

The biggest issue with most roof top boxes and factory crossbars is that many factory crossbars are curved. So depending on the mounting hardware of the box and the curvature of the crossbars, it may or may not be compatible. That being said, I have a Thule cargo box that I've used on a variety of vehicles large and small with different factory crossbars and there was never a problem fitting it on. On smaller vehicles with more curvature, the box just sat at a slight angle (sloped with the curve).
With the large size of the Pilot, I would assume that the curvature of the crossbars is probably minimal and you should have no problems choosing a box to suit your needs. |

I'd actually like to know if factory crossbars for the '09 are the same size as those for earlier models.
Thinking of moving up from my '06. |
