Hello all,
Im a newbie to this forum but here goes.........I just purchased an 09 pilot(touring) and because of the demand here in Toronto I have to wait almost 2 months (late august or early sept) until I get my car. I ordered a black exterior/tan interior combo and apparently demand for this car in this model and color combo is very high.
I probably waited too long to purchase as I could have had this exact car if I had have purchased it three weeks earlier. However I spent almost 3 weeks testing and comparing cars in the same price ranges and categories.
I looked at the limited highlander08, the base seqoiua08, the rx 350 and came to the conclusion that no car in this price range came close to the nice interior size of the pilot and the amount of bells and whistles included in the pilots touring pricetag. Overall, Im really impressed with the touring package, it just sucks that I have to wait 2 months to get it...... |

Sorry to hear about your wait. But it WILL be worth it.
I, too, checked out the competition and felt that the Touring Pilot was the best out there. Not many SUVs with the features I needed/wanted all in one package, such as:
7 passenger capability
auto door locks
power hatch
handsfree phone / bluetooth
USB / MP3 / Satellite Radio capability
AWD
Navigation
Rear Camera / Parktronic
Leather
Moonroof
Best of luck with your new Honda! |

| How were you able to successfully place an order a 2009 Touring in Formal Black with a Beige interior when this color combo is not listed on the Honda website or brochure? I was denied when i asked my dealer to special order it? Please share your secret. |

| yep....im really excited........Im a current rx330 driver now.......but its time to get a bigger vehicle(with three kids, the older two cant stand sitting beside each other!) .....I test drove the pilot three days ago and i loved the car-like feel to it....im also a bit of a tech fan too, so the bluetooth, nav and usb link for ipod are big pluses as well...... |

Canada may have different color options.
Honda does not do special orders, actually unless they have changed the process since 2002, 2003, they don't do any true orders. Just allow minor changes to predefined allotment. |

| The touring model in black exterior has a tan or black interior option in the Canadian brochure......after reading your post i also noticed that the honda website(canadian) doesnt offer a choice of interior color at all online. However the dealer at honda told me at time of purchase that this is available(actually the tan has quite a bit of black inside the car....the carpet, parts of the dash and the top part of the doors on the interior are black as well)......hope that helps |

| That must be the difference. Here in the US only Grey or Black are the optional interior leather color choices with the Exterior Formal Black. You are a lucky Pilot driver up there in Toronto! Enjoy. |

Are all US auto prices marked up to that extent? |

I dont know about american prices but the canadian touring model has an msrp of 49800. The base model stars at 36500.
The canadian pilot choices are less than the american model choices..... for example we have only one touring package and it comes standard here with the res and awd(no choices) |

In addition. $1540 for Freight and PDI. (about 2x US price)
$7,028 for taxes and levies.
Is this a set amount, or dependent on sales price after trade in? e.g. in Mass. you pay 5% tax on the sales price, less the trade in value (in my case, 5% of $16k = $800 tax) |

| Im not sure of all the details but the lease im locking into works out to about 800(canadian), tax in, a month for 4 years. |

USA Touring 4WD 38395
USA Touring 4WD w/RES 39995
Buying in NH has no sales tax. About 10K cheaper in USA. US$ CAD is 1 to 1, what a rip-off for Canadian auto dealers. Price gouging. The Canadian Honda won't honor new car warranty for Honda brought in from USA, basically stop the Canadians buying in USA. |

I will call it fair, why honor warranty items from another country. |

I agree.
A lot goes into a warranty including legal; differences between states, let alone countries.
People often jump to the "big old evil corporation" excuse when in fact it is their simplistic view that is in error. |

Prabably explained why we pay +$4.00 per gal. here and $0.25 per gal. in Iraq, plus we keep pumping our tax money into Iraq. |
