I placed my order for my touring 09.......but is getting a biege interior a bad idea with three kids?.......I've seen both the black interior and biege interior pilot's in the showroom and the biege looks really sharp!
The black is ok but the pilot is a big car and having the black interior makes the car look dark and kind of plain(not to mention it shows a lot of dust). On a smaller SUV with a wood trim or highlights at least a black interior can be broken up. (I dont like the honda accessory wood trim) Im probably biased because my current SUV is black interior and it drives me nuts wiping the thing down all the time.
However, having said all that, I've been told that a biege/tan interior(leather) will get dark spots over time and show alot more wear and tear. Is this true....are these spot possible to wash or clean out professionally? Am I in denial thinking my kids wont f#$@ the interior up after the first winter?
There are a couple of consolations with the biege interior pilot. First, no matter what the interior color I understand the carpet in the Pilot is still black....and second that because of the exapnsive legroom I hope my 10 and 8 year old dont screw the back of my driver and passenger seat.
Input is appreciated |

I used to have a black interior (leather) vehicle. At first, I didn't like it but it masked the dirt and other kids stuff pretty good. Now it's my favorite interior color.
I like beige also but that pretty will be visible for spills, scratches and such.
Either way, if you clean it.. it should be okay.
It's really subjective also. |

I have a beige interior, leather still looks good after 13 years in my Discovery, Honda has gray and a dark brown in a third vehicle. All leather and doing well despite everything the kids dump on them.
At worst, why not get second/third row seat covers either from Honda or Wet okele? |

I have the similar beige color in my Ody and it's doing well after 2 years and 2 kids under 5. It hides the dirt and dust well, and grime somewhat. I had a grey interior in a previous Exploder, and it hid the grime well, but the dirt and dust always showed. Black shows everything except black pet hair. Plus it's stinking hot in the summer.
I bought accessory carpeted mats for my Ody (the Honda ones are pretty chincy) and then have carpeted All Weather mats from my Pilot that work well in front, and carpet tiles in the back for winter use. I've seen seat covers in several catalogs, but it may take a while for exact fit ones for the '09. I also have a rear cargo mat to catch all the debris back there...mulch, muddy shoes, etc.
I'm getting jealous! All these new Pilots, and the look of it is really starting to grow on me......oh, well, there's always the Mid Model make-over! |

| I like the biege and after the comments I'm going to stick with it.....I feel a little less worried my kids will destroy it now. |

I don't know what you guys are doing right that I did wrong, but the grey interior of my old Benz showed positively each and every bit of dirt and grime that found its way inside the car. By the time I got rid of it, there were parts that I couldn't get clean regardless of what type of cleaner I used. Same with my wife's old Accord (tan leather) and my brother-in-law's Taurus SHO (tan leather).
Anyway, after my experience with the Benz, all of my cars have been Silver/Black. Heck, my aging E420's interior still looks new, and I've cleaned it maybe once in 11 years. As for my MDX, which I bought in September 2007, I've yet to do anything more than vacuum out the interior. And in spite of the best efforts of my wife, son, nieces, and mother (all of whom are indifferent in varying degrees towards the welfare of my cars), it still looks as good as it did the day it rolled off the lot. Sure it gets hot in the summer, but that's what the A/C is for (also -- I don't know if this works on the new Pilot, but I see no reason why it shouldn't -- if you hold down the unlock button on the key, all the windows and sunroof open, which helps cool things down). As for dust, well, what's worse, some dust, or ground-in stains that you can't get out?
Seriously, for those of you with light interiors that still look new after serious use and abuse, what products are you using to clean/care for your leather?
Regards,

We had a biege cloth interior in our '03 EX, and have a biege leather interior in our '06 EXL. Both have held up VERY well over the last six years of Pilot ownership. We have two kids, and all their friends we haul around. :) I prefer biege.
The grey interior in my F150 shows dirt MUCH more than the biege interior in our Pilots. |

The beige interior will look good than black. But that interior needs more time cleaning and maintaining. You should tell your kids not to mess it up so you wont have a problem.

I dunno 'bout beige, but my fern leather and carpet have not fared well at all over the last four years.
Waayyyyy too light with an active family of four. We camp, boat, eat, etc... in our Pilot.
I actually bought some darker grey mats for the front and 2nd row from a member of this site and am much happier with darker. |

Agreed. We had a black interior in our '04 CRV, and it was very diffucult to keep clean. Every little bit of crud shows up brightly against the dark carpet and seats. I would avoid black interior, especially with kids! |
