| Have and 05, would like to get rid of the tape and separate CD changer and switch to the 06-07 HU if possible. I have the DVD system. Do the units have the same plugs in the back (DVD, power, speakers, etc) with the exception of the external CD changer? |

I thought I'd give this one a bump. I find variations on this question being asked several times on this forum, but not a single answer. The '06 HU being "XM Ready", equipped with an aux input and available for a couple hundred bucks makes it an attractive starting point compared to using a cassette adapter as I currently am in my '05. A person selling an '06 HU says it's the same dimensions with the same plugs on the back as the '05 HU. This is not the same as confirming that the '06 HU will work properly w/ steering wheel controls etc. once it's plugged into an '05.
Does anyone know if this works? In my case I don't have the DVD player, so that's not a concern.
Thanks |

Thank you Pilot Man Dan for taking the time to find those pics.
From that view at least, the plugs do appear to be different. I guess I'll rummage around some more and also see if anyone else rings in with an opinion here.
As this question has been asked 2 or 3 times on this forum and none of the threads have any replies, I must have hit on the only subject on the entire Internet which no cares to debate. It's better than getting flamed I guess.
With my short attention span, I will have forgotten about all this by the weekend anyway.
Was I saying something? ;) |
