| My 2003 Pilot is at 92k miles. Is it wise to continue with 5W20 or move to synthetic? Or another choice. I am running great still, and I have never used synthetic on any other vehicles. |

Oil is oil. Going synth will just give you a longer drain interval among other things that I'm sure others will expound on. Exactly how long you can go between oil changes will depend on what an oil analysis suggests.
5w20 is the weight of the oil. I think you mean conventional oil versus synthetic oil. |

what I meant was synthetic versus conventional, I know about the weight. I just dont want to mess up a good running vehicle, but I would like to make sure it keeps running well. |

| Either or, it's your choice. Using synth or not is not a big deal. If you want to spend the extra $$$ then go for it, if not, dino oil will do fine too, as long as you change both out at regular intervals, but you already knew that. Going to synth won't "mess up" your Pilot. |

Personally, I think synthetic is worth the extra money even with the same drain intervals, but OTOH, if it ain't broken, don't fix it - I'd just do what you've been doing.

| I started to put Mobil 1 synthetic into her. Now instead of every 5000 miles, I plan to change the oil every 10,000. The end result is a little more $$ but synthetic oil is better oil in many respect especially in the extremes of temperature. |

I highly recommend that at 7500 miles, you send a sample to Blackstone Labs.

They'll let you know whether you should be going 10k on your oil. You probably can, but you should check.

I would go synthetic. I'm using synthetic right now and I been changing oil every 5000 miles or more. I do that so I can keep my vehicle running smoothly.

Why?
How do you define "running smoothly" from "not running smoothly".
Do you have any experience with conventional oil causing "not running smoothly" or synthetic oil providing "running smoothly"? |

I have been using the Ford Company Branded oil it is a blend of synthetic and conventional. I have been using 5,000 miles it is a good split between 3750 and 7500, plus the math is easier. The 03 Pilot has 103,000 trouble free miles and going strong.
I have only had one oil failure in my entire life, that car was a 1965 Chevrolet Bel-Air wagon with a 327 cubic inch 350 hp engine connected to a 2 speed transmission. Oil and filters were not as good as they are today, plus I was 16 at the time also. Which could have led to premature engine failure at 85,000 miles. |
