Is it hard to change the cabin filter on an 05 EX-L? Just picked up the car on Friday.

Nope! I just did mine again for the 3rd time at 52,500 miles yesterday.... in the 97 degree heat.... and in 95% humidity.... after about 9 beers... after getting some good financial news on Friday.!.!.!... and drinking all day Sunday to celebrate/1

It was filty again after only 1 year in the Pilot.

Someone posted here that our Pilots have the equivalent of something like a 20,000 BTU a/c system. IIRC, 12,000 BTUs is one ton of home a/c, so we're like at a ton and a half.

Think about how much air flows over these cabin air filters during the hot summer months ( we get about 6 brutally hot months in deep south Texas )

Think about not changing your home HVAC filters for an entire year

More than likely, your Pilot has had a least one cabin filter change b4 you bought it. The filter is behind the glove box, which is held in by 4 screws at the bottom and 2 thingamabobbers about the middle of the way up from the bottom of the glove box to the top.

Take out another 2 screws, with an 8mm socket to drop the metal bar that runs across the front of the filter. There was a plastic bar that ran across the filter too from the factory, but the first time the cabin filter is changed, the plastic bar is cut away and tossed in the trash.

If the plastic bar is still there, cut it with a serrated steak knife at both ends and toss it. Your cabin air filter will be pretty much black if it has never been changed.

Bought my filter yesterday at Advance Auto for about $24.

Good luck and welcome to hp.org!
