turn signal indicator problem - Click HERE for Original Thread
jzw123
I have a 2004 pilot. Starting last Friday I began to have problems with the turn signal indicators. At start-up, they work fine but after about three or four times of using them, they fail to blink and the arrows become solid on the dashboard with clicking sound gone. When I put on the hazards, they also stay solid on the dashboard. What could be the root cause of the issue? The OEM battery started to die on me last month. So I changed it out last saturday. this problem happened friday (a day before i changed battery). Also after i changed the battery, the driver side window won't come up or down all the way anymore when i press the switch past the resistant point. Any help will be appreciated.

Have you checked each bulb to make sure its working all the time?

The owners manual has the window reset instructions.

when it works, both blinkers work fine. But when it stops working (after a couple of times of me using them), neither works, if that answers the question. I will definitely check out the instructions for the window.

Both the turn signals and hazard flashers use the same relay so sounds like this relay is bad. It's in the driver's side under-dash fuse/replay box. Never been down under there, but you have to remove the left kick panel and an underdash cover to gain access to the box. You probably need a manual to be able to tackle this.

just wondering if a bad relay can explain the symptoms that it always works upon start up. And ceases to work after 5 or 6 times of use or maybe actually after certain amount of time of use since i noticed that if i keep it on for about 30 seconds, it'd stop working.

They may be failing after the heat builds up to a certain point. COuld be relays

Sounds like a bad relay also.

It shouldn't be hard to change out. Just a few screws to remove and pop the new one in.

I had to swap out my LX relay for one that supports the fog lights also.

seems it cures itself. the blinker was on for 2 minutes today and was working fine. hopefully it holds... thanks for the help

I hope so too, but I bet a dollar to a donut, it will be back, probably when it's warmer as it sounds heat related.

I'd also put money on the relay. And these can be notorious for inconsistency when not fully failing...yet. The good news is it won't be much cost to remedy. Be ready for a fuse to possibly go also if and when.

it's probably not heat related because right after the blinkers fail, i can fix it by turning off the engine and restart. I did it a couple of times last sunday when i was in new york city. Definitely needed the blinkers when you drive in the city.
