So like most any enthusiast, I have my new ride (okay, wife's new ride) and I have the huge urge to keep messing with it...as in upgrades to this and that. But when I look back on if I would have done all ideas to my past rides, it would have been overkill. Thankfully, I've always found my own happy medium. And that's what it's about right? Being happy with what you have...
But, thought I would throw the current list of wants out there to get some feedback. I don't want to cross over into a "ricer" but I'd love to change a few details for both function and look. I'm usually most happy with function first, looks as a second priority. As mentioned, not all of this will make it but it's what's being considered.
Vehicle: 08 Pilot SE FWD, Formal Black
- Billet Grill, horizontal type that keeps the original grill and adds in between; could help protect the condenser coils down low...really on the fence of it's too much, seems nice touch in some ways and too much in other ways
- Euro Black Housing Rear Light Assemblies: I'm not a huge fan of the Altezza's, thought it might look good to get the blacked out to go with the black color...all light output remains the same...again, trying too much on the look is the concern
- Front Bull Bar with Driving Lights: From my old days with 4x4's, I'm big on lighting upgrades. I would love to put accessory driving lights on board, don't want a full front brush guard, the bull/push bars in chrome seem pretty good compromise for mounting option and look
- Headlight upgrade +/or Headlight assembly change: The stock headlights are decent, but will probably upgrade per a recent post from Daniel Stern Lighting on this forum with better bulbs, not interested in going the HID route really; Also looking at swapping out for black headlight housing with halo rings...but I'm 99% sure this is too far and unnecessary...but my first impression is that it looked good. Also, looking to switch the front parking projector light from white to orange
- Driving light harness: Add driving lights capability with relay (the 08 is the last not to have it and I think it does help)
- Exterior Courtersy triggered lights: additional lights to coincide with interior lights when unlocking doors, placed underneath at door entries for better access lighting, unseen when not used; also, wire a relay for the back up lights to come on with the courtesy group, GM does this and it's handy...could even include the headlights I guess
- Rear Fog Lights: I believe these can be really helpful in foul weather, would be on a switched harness, ideally would replace the new rear bumper placed reflectors with LED matching size but have not been able to locate size. Could add a rear bumper guard (usually 2 metal rails) and attach them on the rail; DOT reg's require to be separate and a min distance from brake lights and certain level from ground (bumper height basically), otherwise, I'd use the turn signal higher beam
- Rear Auxilary work/back up lights: Again coming from my days with 4x4s, these really helped. Either mount internally at top of back window or on the above mentioned rear rail guards...but then it's getting messy looking on those rails.
- Trailer Hitch; non lighting harness equipped as it would just be for bikes, etc; Could add the aux rear lights to this
- Thule cross rails...to be added as and when needed for cargo box, could look at adding the aux rear lights to the rear rail and only use when these bars are in place
- US Spec Ipod link
- Inifinity 6.5 Kappas at all 4 doors; new aftermarket 10" (or maybe 12") sub...not looking to add a lot of amps so may stop with the new door speakers
So there's plenty there but not anything radical. Am I coming close to a ride that is "too far"? |
