Man, that's awesome!!!!!!

I paid my '04 off about 5 days ago, almost a year early. My 20k loan was 2.9% for 5 years, but I was tiring of a car note.

It will probably hit home when I get the title from Honda Financial Services.

Again, good for you! A one or two year old Pilot that is all yours!

Edit. I just noticed it is you lizzy40! I replied to your post about your depressed feeling about high gas prices and it's impact on how much you drive your Pilot. I remembersaying something like how much better you would feel about gasssing up and not having a car payment!

Congrats!!!

I financed with Honda too, and when we paid off ours, they gave us the option of having the title remain with them. We could request it whenever we needed it, for selling or trading. That way we would have to worry about having the original at the house.

I know when I read their letter, it sounded a lot better than I explained it, but you get the idea.

yeah mine was financed through Honda Finance too (citizens bank). I had a 5 year loan for $25,000 at a 6.99% interest rate and paid it off in 1 1/2 years. I am real proud of myself so I just had to brag, ha,ha. Yes I was the one depressed about gas prices but not wanting to give up my pilot because I really like it and it was almost paid off. I am happy now to not have the car payment because it is going to make filling up the tank more bearable now !!!! What is next, Charley, well I guess when my 2001 Elantra finally croaks then I will get another Honda like a civic or an accord for a more economical car, hee,hee

Congrats!!! At least you are not giving $$ to the bank anymore. Enjoy the payment "vacation".

OUch!!! 6.99% from Honda?

My 2.9% for 60 months cost me approx $1500 in interest on a $20,000 loan. Of course, paying in 49 months made them a higher rate on the loan. I haven't figured my effective interest rate by paying it off 11 months early.

I know. At the time I bought mine Honda didnt have any promotions of better interest rates. That was the best one they had. Two weeks after we bought ours Honda started doing the 2.9% interest rate but was too late for us and we have an excellent credit score. My score was 805 and my husbands was 780 and that was the lowest rate they could offer at the time.

Too Bad for me........I paid $24,800 cash in 2006 and next thing I know.....
I lost my job within six month. In Fe months, I got new one..Goddone. But It's better to finance at some point.

Lizzy,
Congrats on paying off your loan! That's great work to save enough to do that.

BTW, at 6.99% for a $25k loan, you were initially paying $145 per month in interest. Now you can bank that to yourself :) Gas money!

That is what I figure... gas money for the next few years :)

My last payment on my '04 will be next month. It was really hard spending that much money on a car (the most expensive one before the Pilot was 18K for a CRV), 28K or so for the Pilot was a tough bite to take!!!

We do like it though. Problem is we really don't need all the extra space now that the kids are older (15 and 19)!!!! It's only got 45K on it though so it's not like we drive it that much.

Yeah this was the most expensive car we have financed too. Our 1998 Honda civic that we bought new was $13,000, then my 2001 Hyundai Elantra that we bought new was $16,400 and then the 2007 Honda Pilot bought new was $24,000. Now I gotta start working on getting my town home paid off and then we will own everything till the next thing starts, ha,ha.... still got $72,000 on the townhome so that will be a while and then college for the kids, uhhhhhggggg. Mine are 16, 15 and 13 so not long from now.
