Specs: 2003 Pilot EXL with stock DVD entertainment system. After a quick visit to the Honda dealer, it was determined that my stereo is in need of replacing. In lieu of replacing it with a factory system (cost over $1,000), I am looking at alternatives.
What I want to know is how the radio works in conjunction with the DVD drive, that is mounted seperately down below the HVAC controls. Basically the stereo plays CD's, but if you want to play a DVD on the flip down screen, you put a DVD in the lower tray, BUT you control the DVD via the buttons on the radio up above.
So if I go buy a new stereo, will the DVD player no longer work? Do I have to buy a DVD stereo, and somehow hook up the new DVD stereo to the flip screen? And if that is the case, do I then never use the DVD drive in the lower tray?
I guess my question is for those of you that have an '03-'07 Pilot with the stock DVD package. Have you swapped out the stock stereo for an aftermarket, and if so, what were you still able to use of the stock system (ie flip down DVD, steering wheel audio controls, lower tray DVD player, etc). |
