Towing/Air Lifts - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have a 2008 Honda Pilot equiped with the Honda tow hitch, transmission cooler, and power steering cooler. I had a brake controller and 7 pin plug added. When towing our 2500 lb pop-up plus loading up the back of the Pilot, the rear end sags and the rear wheels look like this: / \ When unloaded, the rear wheels look basically normal | | . I had read previous posts and was looking at Air Lift 1000 to help with the rear sag, but Air Lift's catalog only states that they are good for 2003-2005. Has anyone installed Air Lifts or similar products on their 2006+ Pilots? Any idea what might have changed from 2005 to 2006 or later with the rear suspension? Thanks!

I installed it on my 2006 EXL and it works very well. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the info. I just called Air Lift back again and spoke to a different person. They told me that they will be doing a specific fit for 2008 Pilots within the next month or so and their website should be updated as soon as it is available (although now I'm wondering if they weren't thinking about the 2009's when I asked). They said the only reason it isn't listed for 2006-2008 Pilots is that it hasn't been measured/tested by their company. They gave me the air bag dimensions for 2005 Pilots...bag diameter is 4.9 inches, bag height is 4.25 inches. They told me the bag just needs to fit inside the coil springs. I won't be doing the install myself, so I'll probably check back in another month or so to see if their listing has been updated through 2008 just to be safe...

I installed the Air Lift 1000 on my 2008 Pilot. No issues. Fits fine and allows me to lift the rear end when towing my boat.

I was about to go ahead and install the Air Lift 1000's, but decided to call the company again. They said they have tested them on the 2008 Pilots and there is a slight difference, though they didn't give me the specifics. A new product number/price should be out within 3 weeks I was told. I guess I can wait 3 more weeks to be safe.

Are you sure that they weren't thinking about the new model year 2009?

I sure didn't notice any difference between my 2003 and my 2008. Install was easy without issue.

Agreed. My 08 and 05 seem identical to me. I ordered the 03-05 kit for my 08.

Hi All - Just an update, the AirLift 1000 is now available for 2008 and other Pilot models according to AirLift's website:

http://www.airliftcompany.com/online_catalog.html

For 2008, the part # is 60815. On older Pilots, the part # is 60740. No idea what the difference is, but I feel better about ordering one now.

Thanks!
